Principal's Message
Dear Forest Hills Families,
The time between the end of the year and the beginning of summer has always been one of my favorites. The building is quiet and it's the perfect time to fall into a chair and think about the year.
This year we welcomed the graduating class of 2032, our newly minted Kindergarten Falcons! We made new friends and got to know our new teachers. We explored the Innovation Lab, went on field trips, and found new ways to keep our bodies active.
This year we read some incredible books, saw numbers take shape, and found a great way to show our newest learning. We explored culture and history, and learned important lessons about how the stories we tell shape how we see and understand.
This year we worried about Hector.
We saw our school close. We traded hugs for elbows.
This year schools across the state joined us in a global story of collective responsibility to protect those we love. Teachers felt the distance from their students, students from their teachers, and friends from their friends.
This year we are grieving for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and the many Black lives we have lost to violence and systemic racism. We are learning their stories, the truth behind our stories, and our responsibility to disrupt the longstanding injustice that permeates our society.
This year was different. This year exposed how much we need each other, how we are learning to stand together, and to listen to one another for the next steps forward.
I am glad we are in this together.
Mr. Shuckerow
Have a Fantastic Summer!
Forest Hills Staffing Updates
Nancy Sabin, Educational Assistant, has decided to retire after 30 years of service to the Lake Oswego School District, the last 15 with Forest Hills. Ms. Sabin's care for her students shined through with every interaction. We wish her the very best in retirement and look forward to her (many!) visits next year.
Kelly Dehning, 5th grade teacher, will be joining the 4th grade team at Westridge Elementary. Ms. Dehning has been such an important part of shepherding our 5th graders into middle school. We look forward to this invigorating change for her and the many contributions she will be making to her new school and community.
Sonia Finney, Learning Specialist, has decided to resign in order to pursue her goal of obtaining a doctorate degree. Ms. Finney joined the Forest Hills team mid-year last year, displaying the utmost care and thoughtfulness throughout. We are very happy for Ms. Finney and are glad that she will still be able to continue her work in the field of education.
Finally, I would like to introduce Kasie Hansen, who will be joining us as our new Learning Specialist. Ms. Hansen has worked in both the elementary and middle school settings, most recently as the Learning Specialist at Lake Oswego Junior High School. She is well known for her ability to connect with students and build strong relationships. Ms. Hansen also has a special connection to Forest Hills, having had her children attend. She knows the school and community well and is looking forward to connecting with the students, staff, and community.
Devices and Library Books

Grading for K-5 and Report Cards
Please click here for instructions on how to log into ParentVUE
For help, email Wende Milner (wende.milner@loswego.or.us) or Nicole Merino (nicole.merino@loswego.k12.or.us)
You will not receive your student’s report card in the mail this year. The second semester elementary report card message will state: "School closure was ordered by Governor Brown in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Academic progress is marked with an “S” as teachers do not have adequate summative assessment data for students." Elementary report cards will not have attendance data or individualized comments; Thank you for your engagement and participation in distance learning.
Verify Your Student's Information for 20-21
Beginning May 1, LOSD needs parents/guardians of all students enrolled for the 2020-21 school year to log into ParentVUE and review/update your students' information through the Register/Verify tab. This benefits both families and schools by:
Ensuring that schools have accurate information to reach parents and other contacts in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Verification is important even if your contact information has not changed over the past year because the school may have incorrect information from a previous year.
Allowing parents to review the health conditions on file at your student's school.
Enabling distribution of electronic devices covered by the district's Technology Agreement
If you have forgotten your ParentVUE password, go to the login page, click "I am a Parent," then click "Forgot Password." If you are unsure whether you have a ParentVUE account, contact your student's school. For assistance with the verification process, refer to the user guide on the LOSD website or contact your student's school. Please note that verification is not part of the ParentVUE mobile app. However, a button in the app allows you to open verification in a web browser, or you can log into ParentVUE on a computer.
For help, email Wende Milner (wende.milner@loswego.or.us) or Nicole Merino (nicole.merino@loswego.k12.or.us)
