Message from the Principal
We made it through the first two weeks,
We hope your students have had a successful second week of the school year with remote learning! Our teachers have reported strong attendance and student engagement and we have you to thank! As we gear up for increasing students on campus to Options, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade students starting September 28th, we will continue to teach all 2-5 and those K/1's who choose to remain remote learners online. We know using these new tools and technology can be challenging at times, which is why we want to share a few safety tips with you regarding learning in a virtual classroom.
STUDENT PRIVACY
Parents are an important part of our remote learning success, especially with younger students. While you can view your child’s classroom remotely, it is extremely important that you respect the privacy of all students in the virtual classroom. PSD has a responsibility to protect student privacy. Zoom sessions are now accessible for students through the PSD Portal and Schoology, and recorded essential learning sessions will be available only through Schoology for 48 hours, then the link will be disabled.
Please also remind your child to never share the classroom links with others.
Again, remote learning is going very well, and we want to keep it that way! We appreciate your cooperation and encourage you and your student(s) to report anything you see online that is suspicious or inappropriate. Our goal is to keep our students and staff safe!

Additionally, you can get your yearbook any time 11-3pm!! Thank you again VPO for making this possible!
Many questions have come up regarding Read & Lead Medals from last year, these requests need to be directed toward Kim Rohr at kkrohr@msn.com.

Technology Issues Being Resolved
Please make sure you know your students 7 Digit student number - this student number serves as the username and email for Chromebook log in and Student Portal. Once you log in completely to my.psd401.net with your 7 Digit student number and password, your Portal will allow simpler access to Schoology and Zoom sessions. Feel free to pass on to your teacher any tips and tricks that helped you to log in to the most essential resources.
Remote Learning 101 Links

- Parent Portal and PowerSchool - The main hub for student data
- Teacher, contact information, lunch accounts, etc.
- Parent Portal Information
- Schoology - Our PSD learning management system
- Central location for all learning resources, directions, assignments
- Schoology Step by Step
- Zoom - Video Conferencing for direct, live (synchronous) connection
Since we are now all learners at home, one of the most supportive practices families can do is become familiar with these 3 primary platforms. Teachers, the office, and admin can help with basic resource or technology questions.
