A Message from Mrs. Gregory

Hi! I know that summer is not quite over yet, But I did want to drop in and say hello and share a few things with you. I have thoroughly enjoyed summer break-- as pictured here in Greece :-) --- and hope you and your family have as well. Nevertheless, school will start before we know it! Welcome to the new families that will be joining us this year. I'll share with you that I communicate weekly on Sundays around 5pm about any happenings in school each week. So, beginning next week, please look forward to that call and emailed newsletter. Below are a few things that I need to share with you as we get ready for the start of school. If you have any questions, feel free to email me or reach out to us at school.

Open House

Open House will be August 25th from 5-7 PM. A parent meeting will be held at 6:00 pm. When you arrive to the school for open house, please enter through the Wall-Ennis Gym doors. Inside the gym, you will be able to grab your schedule, talk with transportation, pick up carpool tags, and sign up for PTA (among other things)! Feel free to visit your classroom teachers either prior to or after the parent meeting that will be held in the gym at 6pm.
Please click the Student Information form above. Please complete the student information form ONCE for EVERY student. It is a must that we have this information on file for every IA student.
Families who plan to use carpool daily will be issued two (2) carpool tags this year. If you loose your tags, a replacement tag and new carpool number will be $2.00. Please click the above button to sign up for your tags if you plan to use carpool daily. You can also find the form here: https://forms.gle/V3YbLLCDD2wVevqo6. Each family only needs to sign up once for a tag. If you sign up prior to open house, you can pick up your tags then. Once school starts, if you are in the carpool lane without a numbered tag, you will be asked to park and enter the building to sign out your student as a safety precaution.

School Bus Transportation

All students who attend Innovation Academy are eligible for bus transportation. If you have any questions concerning bus transportation, please email Assistant Principal Mr. Barnett (StephenBarnett@johnston.k12.nc.us ).

Student Schedules

Student schedules will soon be able (not yet) to be viewed in the Powerschool student and parent portal. Students will be able to pick up their class schedules at open house in the gym from 5-7pm on August 25th.
Click the "School Supplies" button above to get a list of the requested supplies for each grade level. If your family is in need of help purchasing school supplies, please send an email directly to Mrs. Gregory (crystalgregory@johnston.k12.nc.us).

School Lunch

If you have not submitted a school meals application, please do so TODAY. Please complete the application even if your student will not qualify for free or reduced lunch. The student’s 21-22 meal benefit status will carry over for the first 30 days of the 22-23 SY. However, many families did not submit an application while meals were offered at no cost. Even if you think that your family may not qualify, please go ahead and apply for meal benefits so that students are able to roll that benefit for the first 30 days of the 22-23 School Year.

NEW TITAN FAMILY PORTAL (Secure, Online System)

All households should submit an application and sign up for the Family Portal which allows families to make online payments to their children’s meal accounts, remotely monitor their children’s accounts, set up automatic recurring payments, set up low balance email message alerts, and submit an online application for free and/or reduced meals: Titan Family Portal Link

School Sports

This summer, I have answered lots of questions about sports. While Innovation does not currently have our own sports teams, students are able to attend Innovation and play sports at their base schools. So- as we approach try-out season for fall sports, please reach out to your base schools to find out when tryouts are happening. Let us know if you make the team!
