Newsletter Week 2, Term 4 2021
St Joseph's Catholic School Morrinsville October 26th 2021
Principal's Message
What a great start to the term. Our children have settled back into school beautifully and we are so lucky to have a full staff at school. We hope you were able to have a relaxing Labour Weekend. Did you know that Labour Day commemorates the struggle for an eight-hour working day? New Zealand workers were among the first in the world to claim this right.
A special welcome to Abegail Bunao and her family, to our school. Abegail has just turned five and started school today in Akonga Hub. She is the first in her family to come to our school. We know you will make her feel so welcome.
Tomorrow we are hosting the Scripture Reading Finals. We wish the finalists the very best. This week we will be sending home some information about our rejigging of Mission Day. Please keep reading the newsletter to find out more.
Just a reminder that Monday 8 November is an Accord Day. This means that it is a Teacher Only Day so students will not be attending school. Alternative arrangements for childcare will need to be organised. Thanks so much for this.
Have a great week everyone!
God Bless you and your whānau.

Class organisation for 2022
We are currently finalising our classes for 2022. When putting classes together the teachers look at aspects such as class size, gender ratio, academic needs, social needs, learning styles verse teaching styles. I ask that you recognise the experience of the senior teachers and classroom teachers in their ability to place children accordingly under the outlined criteria. The final decision as to which child is in what class remains the responsibility of the school. If you have anything that you think we need to know regarding the placement of your children in a class please contact Simone Campbell simonec@stjoes.school.nz or principal@stjoes.school.nz. While we respect all your requests, this will not always be met if we consider other factors to be greater.
If your family is moving or planning to move out of the Morrinsville area or your child will not be returning to St Joseph’s School for 2022, please contact myself principal@stjoes.school.nz or drop by my office asap. We appreciate this as this also can affect class placements and class sizes for next year so as much notice as possible is extremely important.
Livestock Day
Thank You Everyone...
This year we hosted the Morrinsville Combined Schools Livestock Day. What a Great Day!
With over 60 entrants from three schools, the children and their animals enjoyed the day with
exceptional results in the rings, with ribbons and smiles all round.
Thank you to all those students, animals and their supportive families for making the day a success.
The day would not have been the success it was without all the helpers and sponsors to make it happen.
We thank the judges and stewards who give their time freely on these days, as it is not always an easy job with high quality animals in the rings.
Special thanks goes to the hard working team of Claire Silvester, Carolyn Findson, Peter Flynn,
Paddy O’Shea, Aaron Findson, Richard Scott, Justin Williams, Caleb Fisher and Kevin Wooller
plus the supportive crew from St Josephs PFC.
A big thanks to our main sponsor Bowers Brothers Concrete along with Subway, McLarens Rural Services and ASB.
What a Team to make the day a success. Thank You Everyone...Robyn
