Spiritual Reflection
By Sheila O’Callaghan
We know many of our students are excited about Halloween. We wish you a Halloween filled with fun. However, we want you to be aware that November begins with a Double Feast.
November 1, is All Saints’ Day. We remember all the saints who have died; the saints whom God has taken into his heavenly kingdom. Members of our own families have died. They are part of God’s harvest. We pray for all of them on November 2, All Souls’ Day. This is the time to pray for all people so that one day we will share the glory of the saints.
As we celebrate All Saints Day and All Souls’ Day, we still have special saints to celebrate. On November 3, we remember Saint Martin de Porres, who died in 1639 in Peru. Martin’s father was Spanish and his mother was African. When he was 12 years old, he went to learn to be a barber. Martin also learned to care for the sick. He became known for his care of the sick and his love for the poor. Because of his good works, he is known as an advocate of social justice. Martin loved people of all races.
The memorial of St. Charles Borromeo will be celebrated on November 4. He became a cardinal at the age of 22. He was not a priest at the time. However, Charles grew into the job. He wrote a catechism. He spent his fortune on the poor. He opened schools. He became a great cardinal.
As we continue our life trying to love God, there is a beautiful reading from the first letter of John. It speaks of God as love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God in them. You will find this in John 4:16, 19-21.
Please pray for the sick, especially Fr. Mink, Fr. Jasper’s Mom, Patrick Flanagan, and Remo Vallejo. Our Armed Forces and First Responders need our prayers too. Pray for them.
All Saints & All Souls Commemoration
Thank you for contributing to the Saint Ann School All Souls Day Prayer Display. We invite you to view the display in the Main Office window to offer your prayers for all of our loved ones who are no longer with us
November 1 - All Saints Day
The Church celebrates all the saints: canonized or beatified, and the multitude of those who are in heaven enjoying the beatific vision that are only known to God.
The feast of All Saints should inspire us with tremendous hope. Among the saints in heaven are some whom we have known. All lived on earth lives like our own. They were baptized, marked with the sign of faith, they were faithful to Christ's teaching and they have gone before us to the heavenly home whence they call on us to follow them.
November 2 - All Souls Day
All Souls Day is the Commemoration of All of the Faithful Departed, or All Souls. On this day, we pray that all those who have died— our loved ones, and also those people around the world who we will never meet— through the mercy of God, will rest in peace.
Pass the Word: Open House on November 1

The 2022 St. Ann School Annual Fund
The St. Ann School Annual Fund was established in 2018 as a way to support the mission of the school and secure the legacy of Catholic education for future students of the school.
The Annual Fund directly supports the school’s core curriculum and electives, including two foreign languages and an enriched arts and music program. The fund is used to provide state-of-the-art technology and equips faculty with the tools necessary to educate and develop the hearts and minds of St. Ann students.
This is a restricted fund and is used solely for our students. This year, the Annual Fund will be used to purchase new educational software for our HD interactive smart boards as well purchasing new iPads and Chromebooks for the classrooms.
Your gift to the St. Ann School Annual Fund will ensure that current and future generations of students will continue to benefit from St. Ann School’s rich tradition of faith, academic excellence and community service.
The Annual Fund Campaign starts in October and continues through December 2022. Please consider making a gift online here or by check or securities payable to the St. Ann School Annual Fund. All gifts received by December 31, 2022 qualify for a charitable deduction for the 2022 tax year.
