Lincoln Lowdown

This week Lincoln was filled with energy, not only from the students but from the parent volunteers that took part in "Take our parent to PE" week. Thank you, Mr. Navis, for organizing this fun-filled sweaty week of intense workouts for all who participated. Many claimed to fulfill their workout during the 30-minute class.

Lincoln also welcomed our first author for the year. Kindergarten thru second graders learned about research and the writing process from the author, Miranda Paul. She has authored several picture books and discussed the publishing process. It is always so powerful for students to meet real authors. Thank you to Mrs. Kranmer for organizing this complimentary visit from Anderson's book store in Naperville. Her books are still for sale, if you are interested please let us know. We will host our book fair in November, the week before parent-teacher conferences.

Walk to school/Run-a-Thon

Wednesday, October 2nd is our county-wide “Walk to School” day. Students will begin walking around our blacktop as they arrive to participate in this county-wide event. We will also be holding our annual Run-A-Thon fundraiser that day. Your child will be coming home with their grade-level t-shirt either Monday or Tuesday next week. Please have them wear their shirt on Wednesday. Thank you to the PTO for their generosity in purchasing shirts for all of the students! Please remember to have your child turn in his or her pledge envelope next week.

We would also like to congratulate the students whose designs were selected for our schoolwide t-shirts those designs will be revealed next week!

The annual Kick-A-Thon will be next Friday, October 4th at St. Charles East High School. Each school in District 303 has been raising money to help fight cancer. I want to thank all parents and students who have already donated to this great cause. Our ‘Lincoln Leopard” school banner, which will be featured on the night of the event, already has many signatures of students. Students and parents can continue to donate to this event up to September 30th. If your son or daughter is interested in joining that evening to kick and or hold the banner please email us All donations can be turned into the main office. Ms. Manuel will be our staff kicker that evening and we will do this in honor of those fighting cancer.
