Welcome Back!
Your child's semester report cards will be sent home on Wed, Jan. 20, 2021. Earlier this year, information was shared with families about our new proficiency grades: NSP, DEV, PRO. Click here if you would like to reread this information. In addition to proficiency grades for your student's academic subjects, your child will also receive proficiency grades for citizenship. These proficiency grades will help you see your students' strengths and the areas they will continue to work on during second semester.
We continue to be diligent with our safety protocols for COVID-19, including following public health guidelines for quarantining and isolation. It is important that we balance the need to stay home when we display symptoms, with strong attendance at school. Students tend to perform better in school when they are present consistently for the instruction. See the pdf below for tips of how to help do this during this unprecedented school year.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me at school at (920) 386-4404 x1003.

News from 2nd Grade!
The second grade team and students have been world travelers this month! Christmas Around the World is always a fun unit, full of learning opportunities of other traditions in our beautiful world.
Students have enjoyed making crafts and learning about food, traditions, fun facts, and Santas from across the globe: Germany, France, Australia, Egypt, Italy, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, to name a few.
We enjoyed another virtual field trip to the marsh and learned all about bird adaptations in the winter. We wrapped it by creating a (messy!) pinecone bird feeder! Hopefully your child is noticing the bird seed getting pecked off! It was a nice collaboration with our library specialist who also made Cheerio bird feeders with students.
In Math, our new unit focused on measurement in centimeters and inches and shapes, both 2D and 3D. We will be starting a new unit upon returning to school after Christmas break. We are going to be re-focusing on money so please try to work with your child over break, counting pennies, nickels, and dimes. We will be adding quarters and dollars so please introduce these to your child.
Our Narrative writing unit is complete and our next units for Reading and Writing will focus on non-fiction, informational topics. We can’t wait to see what topics your child thinks they are experts in.
We have been fortunate to have had Ms. Faulk join our team for the semester as a student teacher from Maranatha. She will be leaving us at the end of the semester in January to embark on a new journey in Washington state and we wish her the best of luck. She will be missed.
3rd Grade News!
Happy New Year!
We are doing great things in 3rd grade already this year! Not only are we working very hard on academics, we are working hard on our social emotional skills. Respect, patience, self talk, and focus have been on the forefront of our Guidance With Ganser lessons. We even got to do a fun spider web activity where we shared a fact about ourselves. In the activity, we were amazed by the design we created and how we are all connected in a classroom. We love having Guidance With Ganser weekly!
We also have Numeracy this year with Mrs. O’Toole! This is a 15 minute session where we focus on number sense and review tricky concepts. Math Talk is happening all morning for us this year!
We wrote beautiful letters to our Veterans to celebrate their brave dedication to our country. The outpouring of appreciation was enormous. We were happy to share in the gratitude of their special day.
Ms. Juech’s class has had Ms. Todd as a student teacher this semester! She has enjoyed teaching and getting to know the students. She also observed in other classrooms to grow in her learning. We appreciate all her hard work this semester!
Here’s to a wonderful new year, enjoy everyone, be safe!
Free School Meals will Continue!
