New Lebanon School
Weekly Updates
¿Necesita leer nuestro boletín en español?
Hello Bobcat Families! Another successful week at New Lebanon School! As the days get quite a bit colder, please remember to send appropriate outdoor weather gear to school - a warm coat, gloves, hat, scarf, and snow pants when appropriate. We try to take every child outside at least once a day for a mask break. A few updates for you below...
Outdoor Recess
Your child might be asking you why they have the meanest Principal in Greenwich :). Recently, we made the safe decision to hold recess in a separate location for each class. The reason for this is that children's masks are off during recess because we want them to get fresh air, and it is incredibly hard to keep 5-11 year olds six feet apart outside when they just want to play! Since we know this is the reality, by keeping each class in a separate location, if one child tests positive for Covid, the entire grade will not have to quarantine. The entire grade being unmasked together often results in the decision to quarantine the entire grade. You might ask, "what about ALP or FLES when different classes combine?" - good question! When students are inside, we are able to keep them masked and distanced, something we cannot do as well outside.
Is your child absent today?
If your child is going to be absent for ANY reason, please be sure to call the main office in the morning. It is incredibly important during this time that we monitor all absences for health & safety reasons, and your call is greatly appreciated!
Distinguished Teacher Awards
It is that time of the year when we ask that you please take a moment to consider nominating one of the outstanding staff members at Western for recognition as a ‘Distinguished Teacher’. As you have experienced, our staff rocks! Traditionally, the west side of town has been woefully underrepresented in this selection process. Nothing against staff from the rest of Greenwich, but our teachers work tirelessly to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners.
