Mystery Hangout
Tech Tribe Badge Challenge
Explanation - Tech Tribe Badge Challenges
What is a Mystery Hangout?
A Mystery Hangout is a Google Hangout (GHO) with an element of intrigue. You will connect your classroom to another classroom, and your students ask questions to guess the location, or other mystery fact, of the other class.
Learning Objective
In a Mystery Hangout, two educators connect their classrooms via Google Hangouts. The students from each class ask each other questions to try to solve a mystery... it could be the geographic location of the other class, what the other class has been learning about, or a wide variety of other "mystery" activities devised by the two educators. The objective is to provide opportunities for critical thinking and student connections outside the walls of the traditional classroom.
Learning Resources
For this badge, you will need a partner in another classroom. The partner could be someone in another WISD school or someone in another city or country.
Learning Task
- Plan with the other educator the objectives you each have for the Mystery Hangout.
- With your class, determine appropriate questions ahead of time.
- Please invite Ashley and Debbie to attend when you conduct your Mystery Hangout.
