Bringing More Play Into Our Day
I love this list of "Old-School" Games for brain breaks, recess, and to promote great socialization skills. As a teacher who got her start as a summer-camp counselor (and I know there are a lot of us out there), so many great memories come flooding back.
Have fun and play, every day!
Depth of Knowledge Wheel
One application that resonates is that when teaching problem-solving in math, students must be at a level 3 DOK in order to apply their knowledge of a mathematical standard to a higher-level problem-solving activity.
Another application at level 3 is to develop a scientific model for a complex situation.
Check out this great blog post below for ideas about using the question stems and examples provided in the DOK wheel to push student thinking in critical and deep ways.

We did the Exemplars. I like challenging myself a lot of the time. It took me about two days to finish. I like doing math a lot. It's one of my favorite subjects. I'd rather do this than anything else, it's just fun. I take pride in my work.
At first I thought Exemplars would be hard, so I picked the easier one. Next time I do it, I'll probably pick the medium one. It was easier than I thought it would be.
