Grading Scale - Based on (3) Parts:
Creativity - is your map:
- visually appealing?
- colorful?
- neat and organized?
Accuracy:
- Are the depictions of each individual setting accurate to the descriptions in the novel?
Thoroughness:
- Is the chart completely filled out with each item on the Setting Chart?
- Are all places mentioned on the Setting Chart represented on the map?
- Is the map labeled properly with each item?

Step 1 - Open a Blank PowerPoint Slide Using Your Free GAVS O365 Account
Step 2 - Find an Accurate Map of the Manhattan Island / Long Island Region
Drag and Drop this Map onto Your Black PPT Slide
The 2013 Scorsese Gatsby Film is True to Most of the Novel's Images - but Double-Check with Your Quotes
Step 3 - Adding Typed Names to Your Maps
You may do this a few ways:
- Type East Egg, etc., into a Word doc, and then drag-and-drop onto your map.
- Type East Egg, etc., into 1001freefonts.com, or a similar site, and then drag-and-drop onto your map
- Take a screenshot of your type from either the Word doc, or 1001fonts.com, or a PPT slide.
Step 4 - Find Accurate Images Online of Each Symbol's Description
Drag and Drop These Accurate Images onto Specific Areas of Your Map Using Your Setting Chart Quotes!
You can also use a more 1920s-specific map that has far fewer labels - these highways did not exist in the 1920s.
EX: The Plaza Hotel
This is a real hotel, which is still regarded as rather swanky, even by today's standards.
In a separate window, search for The Plaza Hotel in Google Maps, and then place it on its exact location to boost your "Accuracy" score!
