SMS Weekly Wrap Up.
Good morning SMS families!
We are excited to have students come back to in-person learning on April 12th! Thank you for filling out the updated survey regarding the possibility of students in class 4 days a week, as opposed to the original Hybrid model. Once we have a final plan, families will be notified right away. Please see below for more important information...
Reminder! No School April 7th, 8th, and 9th
School map - Attached is an updated map of the school that explains our drop off and pick up locations. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Testing opt out - For more information on state testing and how to opt your student out of testing, please see the links below and turn in the form at the front office.
Students of the week -
Kyonna Picard - Kyonna has a goal of getting straight A's and works hard to get there! Kyonna participates in class discussions and is always engaging. Kyonna is such a hard worker!
Tyson Renn- Tyson - One of the hardest working students. He often stays a bit after class to ask questions and get clarity on assignments. And he has a great sense of humor!
Kenna Olson - Kenna comes to class every day, turns her camera on most days, and participates willingly. Her work is always done in great detail and it is easy to see she is putting in her hardest work! Thanks Kenna!
Emmalee Murray - Emmalee comes to all of her zoom classes, with her camera on. She is a positive and friendly classmate. Emmalee has been working hard all quarter on her assignments.
Masks - Masks are required at all times here at SMS. Gaiters, bandanas, and face shields are not allowed unless accompanied by a mask. These types of face coverings do not meet the school safety expectations by the CDC and RSSL. We have disposable masks on hand for those students who have arrived without their mask or are transitioning away from unapproved face coverings. Thank you for your understanding.
Lockers - We will not be using lockers. Students will keep their belongings with them.
P.E. - During P.E. classes, there will be no dressing down or using the locker rooms. There will be a focus on being active in activities that promote social distance, like racket sports.
Music - Students will play instruments and have special masks with covers for the bell end of horns.
Cleaning - Teachers will wipe down desks between classes using Oxyvir wipes. Custodial staff will use Virex. For more information about cleaning protocols, please reach out to us.
Screening your student at home - Please see the attachment that explains how to screen your child before they come to school. It is required that you do this every morning before your student attends in-person school.
Drinks - Students are welcome to bring water bottles with closing lids in their backpacks. Due to Scappoose School District's health and wellness policies and House Bill 2650, SMS will not allow energy drinks, soda, or coffee drinks at school.
