Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a free book gifting program that mails high-quality books to children from birth until their 5th birthday regardless of their family’s income. “The single most significant factor influencing a child’s early educational success is an introduction to books and being read to at home prior to beginning school,” states the National Commission on Reading.
Financial Donations made through the Blue River Community Foundation have allowed this wonderful program to be offered in our community! Each month, registered children who live in Southwestern’s school district will receive an age appropriate book in the mail, addressed to them, at no cost to the family. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has partnered with the American Printing House for the Blind, Inc. to make many wonderful books in the program available in braille and audio format for children who are blind or visually impaired in order for all children to benefit from these wonderful books.
Interested in registering your child?
To register your child, please complete the form below and send it to Southwestern Elementary School in an envelope addressed: Imagination Library Registration Form, C/O Joanna Yeend. If you have any questions regarding Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, please contact Joanna Yeend at Joanna.yeend@gmail.com.
Major Health Partners Community Health Survey
Every 3 years nonprofit hospitals are mandated to complete a community health needs assessment.
Part of the assessment includes a community survey. The survey is for persons who live or work in Shelby County.
Please take the Community Health Survey!
The survey takes around 6 minutes to complete and will provide a wealth of information
for Shelby County communities, nonprofits, businesses, government and schools.
Access the survey at www.mymhp.org/survey.
You can take the survey on your smart phone or PC.
The flier below also has a QR code for your convenience.
Please share this opportunity with your colleagues, friends and family.
If you have a son or daughter ages 15-17, we also encourage them to take the survey.
Thank you for carving out a few minutes of your time to take the 2019 Community Health Survey!

You and your child can easily report tips on bullying, harassment, drugs, vandalism, or any safety issue you're concerned about through SafeSchools Alert. Every tip SafeSchools Alert receives about our district is immediately logged in the system and our administration is notified so that they can investigate and take appropriate action. And, tips may also be submitted anonymously if you prefer. Together, using SafeSchools Alert, we can make our district a safer place to work and learn! Thanks in advance for your support!

Our community is extremely proud of the many accomplishments and positive stories involving the students, teachers, staff and programs at Southwestern Consolidated Schools of Shelby County that we may not always get to hear. If you would like to have your positive story shared with the Spartan Nation, please send the details to Mrs. Lindsay Chase, Curriculum and Communications Director. We would love to share your positive stories that include personal achievements of your child such as serving as a volunteer in a non-profit organization, earning awards or recognition in 4-H, earning badges in Girl Scouts, etc, etc. You may just see your story in a future edition of "The Spartan Special" or in The Shelbyville News!
