November News

Better Late than Never

My apologies for such a lapse in class news. 5th grade and COCSD is a busy place to work. We have wrapped up our first Theme: Where We Are in Place and Time and are beginning our second Theme: How We Organize Ourselves. Please see details on How We Organize Ourselves below. As we approach the "Holiday" season, please make sure your student is in attendance as much as possible. Early check-outs and absences make it difficult for students to complete all required work.

BizTown Fieldtrip

Thursday, Nov. 19th, 8am-5pm

636 West Southern Avenue

Tempe, AZ

Students will complete their job assignments with the goal of making all BizTown businesses successful during their simulation.

How We Organize Ourselves

Our second theme covers the events that led up to the American Revolution, the American Revolution and matter. Students will participate in several simulations including JA BizTown and Triangle Trade. Writing will focus on persuasion and narrative forms. If you have talents or interests in these areas and would like to volunteer as a class visitor please contact me.

California Trip 2016

With four months to go the California Trip continues to be a "hot topic" during our morning meeting. Students should remember that ANY office referral or report card grade below a C will make them ineligible for the trip. We have 20 boxes of chocolate that are available. Please consider selling for the "student scholarship" fund. Final payments are due on January 31, 2016. This will allow families to take advantage of the Arizona Tax Credit program twice for this trip. If you have any questions please contact me.
