SPRING PSAT/SAT- AT HOME HIGH SCHOOL

THE STATE-WIDE SPRING TESTING DAY IS APRIL 12TH AND ALL COMPASS STUDENTS WILL TEST AT THEIR HOME HIGH SCHOOLS. TRANSPORTATION WILL BE PROVIDED, IF NEEDED.

All Juniors will be taking the state-sponsored SAT with Essay on April 12, 2023. This is a state and district graduation requirement. The Makeup date for the SAT is April 25, 2023. Juniors who don't take the SAT this spring will have to take it next spring before they graduate.

Sophomores will take the state-sponsored PSAT 10 and Freshmen will take the PSAT 9 on April 12th as well. Makeup dates for the PSAT 9 & 10 will be determined after the initial test date.

Seniors will have a non-attendance day.

The next step for students in preparing for their April test date is to link their College Board and Khan Academy accounts, unlocking a free PSAT/SAT study plan. Linking these accounts will give students access to a personalized experience on Official SAT Practice.

Students should see Ms. Ohlson with any questions.

Our Extended Study option for students continues to be offered during Block D/8th period (2:30-3:45 pm on all school days but Wed.) throughout 4th quarter. Our goal is for each student to demonstrate competency in every course, regardless of the time needed to meet that goal.

Students had until March 24th to make revisions on 3rd quarter work, submitting it in an effort to meet competency. Any students who need more time in order to complete projects and/or make revision should develop a plan with their teacher to resubmit the work for assessment during their 2nd semester portfolio defense in May. We support students who need extended time to demonstrate competency, in alignment with the "not yet" concept, but students who need this additional support must take the initiative to develop a plan with their teacher to focus their efforts effectively.

CITY OF ST. CHARLES JOB SHADOWING- A CHANCE TO LEARN ABOUT CAREERS AND EARN CREDIT!

If your student hasn't already engaged in job shadowing through this program, we encourage them to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity this semester. In the city's career pathway job shadow program, Compass students can shadow people in many career fields, including engineering, communications, accounting, firefighting, government, law enforcement, construction, forestry, water management, and vehicle maintenance. Students who participate in job shadowing on Wednesdays, and then write reflections about their experiences, have the opportunity to earn credit for career exploration.

Interested students should print and complete the Registration Form and return it to Ms. Ohlson at Compass Academy. Students may also receive a paper copy of this form from Ms. Ohlson in her office.
