Hi! My name is Teresa Johnson-Nabring. This will be my 12th year teaching at Penn. I have taught first, second, fifth, and sixth. Most of my teaching years have been spent teaching 5th grade Math, Social Studies, and Reading. My husband, Charles Nabring, also teaches for TPS at Phoenix Rising. We have 3 children, Kelsey a 9th grader, Michelle is in 3rd grade, and Noah who is in 2nd grade. I am very excited to be part of the leadership team and to be back at Penn this year. Together we will have a fantastic year!

Brandy Owens
My name is Brandy Owens and I am the music teacher here at Penn Elementary. I hold a bachelor’s degree in instrumental music education from the University of Central Oklahoma. I play the cello which I began studying when I was 12 years old. I played throughout high school and being a cellist led my path to UCO where I later became principal cellist of the UCO Symphony Orchestra. During this time I had many experiences travelling and playing cello professionally. I had some wonderful music teachers early in my education and was strongly inspired to teach elementary music. I began teaching music in Broken Arrow Public Schools as a floating substitute for band and orchestra until I was hired in 2001 to teach general music at Phillips Elementary School in Tulsa Public Schools. I taught general music at Phillips and Salk Elementary schools from 2000-2008 until the birth of my first and only child, Daphne. I took 6 years off from teaching to enjoy being a mother and luckily was able to return to my career of teaching music in 2014. This is now my tenth year teaching and my second year here at Penn. I am looking forward to a great upcoming year with our very talented students and staff!

I am engaged to be married in Oct, and am looking forward to starting a family. I love having fun and enjoy doing silly fun things. I play beach volleyball, rugby and softball for fun, and do a lot of reffing for adults and children.

Instructional Coaches
Shelia Martin, ELA (left)
Serving as an Instructional Coach allows me the opportunity to work closely with my colleagues in a team setting to empower students to thrive in their educational endeavors. Working together allows us, as professional educators, to enhance our talents and hone our skills to transform the lives of others in a positive way. Together as a professional working team, we can all grow professionally by collaboratively sharing our experiences, talents, and teaching strategies. Having over 21 years of experience in the educational setting as a classroom teacher of multiple grades, serving as a literacy coach, and being a district trainer of numerous initiatives in education, allows me to contribute to the learning efforts in a highly supportive manner. I am certified in Elementary Education, Early Childhood, Reading, Administration, as well as NBTC in Reading Language Arts. I especially enjoy anything related to cooperative learning, all things literacy, primary mathematics, planning, motivation, and classroom management.
