Emma and Brad first arrived in New Zealand 10 years ago, and have slowly moulded and shaped their home and business into what you experience today - The Falls Retreat.
Their original vision was to create a place that offers a great all-round experience - charming accommodation, a beautiful setting, warm hospitality and rustic, delicious food. Brad is passionate about the food he creates while Emma is committed to creating a sustainable and welcoming environment.

The Bistro is a cottage style building with an open kitchen so you can watch the chefs work their magic. The wood fired oven sits in the centre of the kitchen and is the heart of the business making sure everything is cooked to perfection.
The venue is a very popular stopping off point for cyclists on the Hauraki Rail Trail, locals & passers-by travelling en route the picturesque Karangahake Gorge.

The venue is offering a 3-course menu, starting with pizza bread & followed by 3 choices of Main and 2 of Dessert. please find a representative menu below, which will give an idea of the style of food the venue offers. This is a sample menu as the venue focuses on a Paddock to Plate philosophy, which means the menu changes weekly to fit with what is coming out of the organic vegetable garden. Protein usually stays the same, but components of dishes change.
Crispy skinned pork belly, 7 day cured pork tenderloin with a butternut pumpkin, leek and spice compote, beetroot chutney, pineapple & grapefruit emulsion and a red cabbage, chive and mint slaw
Beef Brined and smoked 12 hour beef brisket with a sticky glaze and topped with sesame seeds, served with kumara, coconut & feta croquettes, horseradish aioli and a pickled papaya, capsicum and daikon radish salad
Fish of the day served with a fragrant herb & green leaf salad with sugar snap & cherry tomatoes dressed in nahm jim vinaigrette with chargrilled shallot, chilli, lime & sea salt pineapple and a mango & vanilla bean emulsion, Zany Zeus ricotta, preserved lemon and dill
Note that this menu is a sample only, as the menu is changed often to reflect seasonal produce coming from the gardens.

We will collect you from your home and transport you into the beautiful Karangahake Gorge for luncheon.
(The restaurant takes its name from being situated near the Owharoa Waterfall.)
Lunch price: $60.00
Wine and all liquid purchases will be at your own discretion.
Transport $35.00 will give you door to door service (within the Tauranga, Mt Maunganui, early Papamoa area).
