Coding--The Tech Language!
Hour of Code 2015 - WORLDWIDE
There are many ways YOU can give YOUR students opportunities to code-at any age!
Hour of Code
Students can go through a one hour coding session where they can code games like Minecraft, Frozen, and Flappy Birds!
No idea where to start? It's easy! Go to this link and follow the steps.
Ms. Swafford and Mrs. Jones completed "The Hour of Code" and their kiddos are hooked!
ScratchJr
This is an app aimed for users 5-7 where they can program their own interactive stories and games. They learn how to solve problems, design projects, and express themselves creatively.
They provide teacher-led lessons to teach students how to use the app, so it is easy to begin! Check it out here.
Mrs. Purk and Mrs. Moler have already started teaching their 1st graders how to code!
Khan Academy
Khan Academy partnered up with the "Hour of Code" and has 4 different ways students can code/program. Two of the activities are for ages 8+ and the other two are for ages 12+.
They do a wonderful job of including lessons for teachers on how to get started with any of their Hour of Code lessons. Check it out here.
How Would You Integrate Coding Into the Curriculum?
Check out this resource on how to integrate coding into specific learning standards to give you some ideas!
