News from the Holy Rosary/Juan Diego Community

Message from the Principal: Oct. 12th

Happy Wednesday!

Did you know that the parish's 125th anniversary is this weekend? In fact, the school's very first class was held in 1891 in the choir loft of the original church? It was led by Mr. Stellbrink, the church's organist. A school was built to begin more classes the following year. Our school history dates back to 1891. Isn't that amazing?? We are the oldest running Catholic school in the state of Washington. While our traditions have a rich history, we have also been reborn as a bilingual school in recent years. We cherish our Catholic faith and the faith formation that we receive through our connection with our church. To celebrate this special day, we are inviting all families to attend a special mass this Sunday at noon. It will be celebrated by Bishop Eusebio Elizondo, as well as a number of past priests from Holy Rosary Church (and our own, Father Wichert). We would LOVE to have the students come in their uniforms and sit together as a group, even though we are also asking for families to be present. Let's show off how amazing our kids are!! Happy 125th, Holy Rosary Parish!

Have a wonderful week! Don't forget...noon dismissal today!!

Blessings,

Katie Dempsey

Fulcrum Scholarships!! Do You Need $1200???? Apply NOW!

The window for 2017-18 Fulcrum Tuition Assistance Grant Program (TAP) applications officially opened on October 1st, 2016. Here is the link to apply: https://fulcrumfoundation.org/grants-and-programs/tuition-assistance

VERY IMPORTANT: Any family seeking ANY financial assistance from Holy Rosary Regional School MUST first apply through the Fulcrum Grant Application.

If you need help with this process, please schedule an appointment ahead of time with Berenice between 3:30 - 5 pm. No walk-ins will be accepted at this time, out of courtesy. If you would like to use a school computer, you can come in the office anytime between 7:30-3:30 starting on Monday 10/17/2016 (but help may not be available during these hours). To speed up the process, please have your last year's Tax Returns ready and an idea for monthly rent, utilities, insurance, car payments, debt, amount in savings, etc, or miscellaneous expenses such as vacations. Make sure to list all expenses, as this helps to qualify you.

As a reminder, submitting the application online is just the first step. All applicants must also provide supporting documentation, like tax forms and W-2’s. Applications can only be verified and processed once all necessary documentation is submitted. It takes FACTS about 14 business day to process applications once paperwork is received, so the sooner it’s submitted, the better. The school deadline for applications is Dec. 2nd. All parts of the application must be completed and all documents uploaded at this time.

Application Fee

Each family will pay a $24 fee to FACTS to apply for Fulcrum tuition assistance. The $24 fee covers all applications for 1 year, and will be fully reimbursed so long as their student(s), regardless of whether they are awarded a Fulcrum grant or not, enrolls in a Catholic school for the 2017-2018 school year.

Important Reminder:

No tuition contract meetings or financial aid will be given out through the school WITHOUT applying FIRST through Fulcrum.

From the Bookkeeper!

Reminder: If you owe money to the Main Office, you will receive a Customer Statement in your child's communication envelope on Wednesday. Please keep an eye out for it. Some families still owe for August and September tuition and October is now due! Also, if you owe money for September meals or extended care, you will see these charges on your statement. These charges are dated 9/30/16. These amounts are due to the office IMMEDIATELY! If prompt payment is not received for tuition, meals, and extended care, your child may no longer be able to participate in school programs. Please remember that we rely on tuition payments for our staffing and program costs. If you fail to pay your bill, it makes things very difficult on us. If you have questions about your statement, please contact Kelly Robertson, the school bookkeeper, at finance@hrrsjda.org.

CYO Basketball...Coaches, Players??

CYO Basketball Season Slated to Begin Soon!

Holy Rosary Catholic School will begin taking signups after school in October for the upcoming Boys' Basketball season and for the Girls' Basketball.

Practices will begin in November. Leagues games will be played on Saturdays.

Holy Rosary CYO Basketball provides a safe and balanced learning environment for players of all abilities that develops the athletic skills, character, sportsmanship, and teamwork of children in grades 4 through 8 through their participation in competitive basketball.

A Basketball Registration SIGN-UP SHEET will be posted in the main office starting October 5th. Cost is $60 per player which includes your jersey (not shorts). Registration is for grades 4 - 8 for boys and girls. By signing up, there is no guarantee your child will be playing on a team. Teams will need to have at least 8 players and have a coach.
