Message from Dr. Frischkorn
Good Evening Mayfield!
This Wednesday, Mr. Moore, Mrs. Huntley, and I attended the Parent E3 Series Workshop hosted by the Manassas City Police Department. We were so impressed with the content shared during the program regarding internet safety and cyberbullying. The program was organized, and there were plenty of community organizations present at the meeting to help answer any additional questions that parents may have.
As a parent of three kids myself, the presentation further solidified my thoughts that we need to monitor our children's use of social media continuously. If your child has access to a cell phone or computer, our duty as parents is to monitor their activity. Please, parents, take the time to talk with your child regarding their Internet use. If your child is on social media, please take the time to monitor their account activity.
Here at Mayfield, we help educate students about internet safety and cyberbullying. Your STEM classes, taught by Mr. Brungard, Ms. Hall, and Mrs. Cornicelli, review and cover internet safety and discuss cyberbullying issues. That establishes a great foundation, but we need to make sure that we continue to speak to our kids about making good decisions when on the Internet.
Always Learning

Upcoming Assessment Schedule for Students
- Purpose of the CAM Assessment: cumulative checkpoints throughout the year on content acquisition, helps the teacher see an overview of instruction/success of instruction/remaining challenge points for the class as a whole, allows us to monitor the alignment of curriculum, gives us a division-wide look at where we are, etc.
To minimize the disruption to the regular schedule, we will adjust our daily schedule for the following 4 Wednesdays. Students will stay in their homeroom classes from 7:15 AM to 9:25 AM. and complete the exam. Once the test is complete, we will return to our regular schedule.
Gifted and Talented Referral Deadline for the Spring Semester
Mayfield Intermediate saw a record number of referrals for our Gifted and Talented program during the Fall Semester! We love seeing parents and staff make referrals when they notice a child displaying their talents. Take a moment and complete a referral form if your child shows GT tendencies.
Next Friday, January 28, is the deadline to refer students to be evaluated for our Gifted and Talented program this spring. If you would like your student to be assessed, please complete this form:
