A Message from our Principal...
Birmingham Families,
WOW!!! What an OUTSTANDING turn out of MAROON today for our WISD School Board President, Mitch Herzog!! He LOVED every minute of our celebration this morning! Thank you ALL for making it special for him. Our WISD School Board definitely LOVES Birmingham and Wylie ISD! Be sure to give them a BIG Birmingham high five when you see them out in the community.
SHOUT OUT to all of our 4th graders for their hard work and grit this week on the Writing Checkpoint!! I saw students using their strategies, checking their work, and tackling that test question by question. Scores will be sent home later next week along with after school tutoring invitations.
Let's talk tutoring:
Back in the day......tutoring was only for students who needed help mastering skills. Times they are a changin' ! At Birmingham, we also host after school tutoring for students who have mastered skills. Our philosophy behind this is that we want to help EXTEND and ADVANCE learning for ALL kids. We strive to provide the BEST of the BEST to ALL kids!!
Wylie Way Day-February 6th - Journey to the Mountain Top
Our BIG Wylie Way Day will be here before we know it!!! The learning on this day will focus on GRIT and PERSEVERANCE. The Bears definitely have GRIT!!
We have been so blessed with the BESt volunteers on the planet and we could use a few to help us decorate for our big day! If you are available, we would love for help. Click the link below for dates, times and decorating needs. Bear Hugs!!

A Message from our Assistant Principal.......
Whew! This short week flew by! We are so proud of our 4th grade bears for working so hard on their Writing Checkpoint test. We will use this data to develop a plan to continue to get them ready for the real STAAR test in April.
We are also proud of the amazing growth that all of our Bears showed on their current MAP test. Be looking for these scores to be coming home soon. Please let your child’s teacher know if you have any questions regarding these reports.
Have a great weekend!
BEARy best wishes...

A Message from Nurse Abby.....
Gig’em Bears!
What an amazing way to start our Friday, with a Texas A&M Midnight Yell practice at 7:40am! I’m a member of the Fightin Texas Aggie class of …?????? lol! Thank you Mr. Herzog for all you do for WISD!
Parents, it’s not too late to get your family a flu shot. Flu season is underway, which means you can still protect yourself. The CDC states the flu season can last until May. Most walk-in clinics (18 months and older) and pharmacies (adults 18yrs and older) in Wylie still have flu shots, but call to confirm before going.
Please remember to follow our WISD policy for sick students. By keeping your child home, you are reducing the spread of germs that potentially cause illness. A student must be fever (100.0 or above), vomit and diarrhea free for 24 hours without the use of suppressing medications before returning to school.
Please remember to send a refillable water bottle to school with your child, and don’t forget your flu shot! Have a great weekend!
Stay Healthy,
Nurse Abby
