January 2024
MISSION: IGNITING A PASSION FOR LEARNING
Message from the Principal
Dear Families,
Happy New Year! As we embark on the exciting journey that is 2024, I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. January brings with it a sense of renewal and endless possibilities, making it the perfect time for a fresh start.
As we dive into the second half of the school year, let's embrace this opportunity to set new goals and refocus on the importance of education. Your child's success is a collaborative effort between home and school, and together, we can create an environment that fosters growth and achievement.
Encourage your children to reflect on their academic journey so far and to set realistic and inspiring goals for the coming months. Whether it's improving a particular subject, developing better study habits, or engaging more actively in extracurricular activities, each step forward contributes to their overall development.
Our teachers and staff are here to support and guide your child along this educational adventure. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. Communication is key to ensuring that we're all on the same page and working toward the common goal of your child's success.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education. Let's make January a month of positivity, growth, and exciting possibilities. Here's to a fantastic start to the new year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Skelton

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on January 18 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. You can log in to Skyward starting January 8 to sign up for conferences. Conferences are not mandatory; however, please sign up for the specific teacher with whom you would like to speak. The survey indicated that parents did not prefer the team approach to conferences, so you will only meet with the teacher you sign up for.

Builder's Club Pop Tab Drive
The KMS Builder's Club is holding a Pop Tab Drive to support Children's Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House. The mission of the Ronald McDonald House is to keep families together and promote the health and well-being of children. The students are focusing on the total weight of the tabs collected throughout KMS to benefit these children as much as possible. Students may bring in their tabs to their ELT teacher. Our drive will run from January 1st - March 29th. We are looking forward to a successful drive.

Created by the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of School Safety (OSS), the SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT Resource Center is a comprehensive, one-stop place to turn with important concerns, offering a Threat Reporting System, Threat Assessment Consultation, Critical Incident Response and General School Safety Guidance.

From the Desk of the School Counselor, Mrs. Weber
Hello KMS School Community!
I am thrilled to share how I am starting as the new Middle School Counselor to serve the Kewaskum School District!
My name is Rachel Weber. I have a Bachelor's degree in Special Education with a Master's in Counseling. I started my career in a middle school setting, recently worked in post-secondary, and now I am back to the middle school level. I am looking forward to the excitement and potential that exists in all middle school students!
I feel the success of all students is tied to parent and caregiver participation. I hope to see parents/caregivers at school activities, during scheduled meetings, and in working toward positive educational progress.
Again, I am happy to be joining the excellent team of caring staff at KMS and excited to play a positive role in all KMS student's futures!
