GRE Family Gazette
April 29, 2019
Dear GRE Families,
Thanks to all who were able to attend Thursday Night's Art Show! It was so wonderful to see so many of our families come out and enjoy some yummy Food Trucks and take a look at the amazing art work our students have created. Our Race to the Finish Campaign continues and there is a great buzz about the building. We are working hard to end our year strong! Keep having conversations at home about how to be respectful, responsible and safe these last few weeks.
We are excited to announce our Groundbreaking Ceremony on Tuesday, April 30th. Due to the limited parking and construction site, the attendees are minimal and by invitation only. However, we hope you will join us on Facebook Live to view the ceremony at 7:00 p.m. In addition, we will be hosting a viewing celebration at the high school in the auditorium. A rain date will be determined if necessary.
Here's to a great week full of fun, friends and learning!

A Few Important Reminders:
1. Lunch visitors-please remember that you may not take photos in our lunch room. We love that you are here to visit your amazing children, but several of our students families do not want their children photographed and posted on social media websites. Help us respect all of our families wishes by keeping any photos you want to take with your child in our office area where we can make sure no other kids are in the picture. If you have questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call our office.
2. It's time for a Spring reminder about our parent drop off loop. Just like our students need to finish strong, so do our drop off lines. You must remain in a single file line while moving through the loop. There should be no passing. You should not drop students off in the bus loop or on the main roads. Be kind to each other, use patience and let's set a good example of how adults follow the expectations for our drop off car line.
3. Are you looking for a way that you can make a positive impact in Big Walnut Schools? The district is in high need of substitute custodians and bus drivers. If interested, please visit the job postings at www.bwls.net/EmploymentOpportunities.aspx.
Training will be provided to all substitutes - potential drivers will receive all training necessary to meet licensing requirements for drivers. If you have any questions, please contact Ron McClure at 740-965-8967.
Specials Spotlight: Physical Education with Mrs. Grieger
We wrapped up our gymnastics unit where the kids all got a chance to rotate though different stations and practice a variety of different gymnastics skills. From forward and backward rolls, spring board jumping and landing, and different skills on the uneven bars, the kids absolutely loved this unit! The trampoline and balance beams were also a favorite.
This past week we started our backyard games unit, students will be rotating through a variety of different games. Some of the games are:
Bean Bag Bucketz
All of these games involve throwing but the scoring is different for each one. The first rotation of this unit the students learned how to play each game, we will be practicing keeping score during the next rotation!
