Rebound: A Presentation from Chris Herren
On Monday, January 30th Tyngsborough Public Schools and the Tyngsborough Police Department School Resource Officer Program is pleased to welcome Chris Herren for a presentation for middle school and grade 9 students. Students in grades 10-12 attended this presentation last school year. Chris Herren was a former basketball legend from Massachusetts, was drafted by the Denver Nuggets in 1999, and later traded to the Boston Celtics only to lose it all to addiction.
The assembly will start with students watching video of The Chris Herren Story. The video provides students with an overview of the Chris Herren Story by using excerpts from Unguarded, the ESPN Film documentary on Chris Herren, footage and clips of Chris playing basketball in high school, college and for the NBA.
Following the video presentation, Chris continues to share his story picking up from the conclusion of the film. Speaking about experiences that have impacted his life as a teenager, Chris will touch on such topics as drunk driving, smoking pot, peer pressure, bullying and cutting. Additionally Chris will share statistics of drug and alcohol use amongst teens nationwide. To conclude the event Chris will field questions from the students.
Chris will also be presenting to the community at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th in the high school gymnasium. Parents/guardians, students and community members are invited to attend. If you have any questions please contact Kate Trainor at 978-649-6316.

TMS Serves needs you!
TMS Serves
Our school-wide after school service learning club is starting up when we return from Winter Break. This is a great opportunity for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students to participate in activities that directly address needs within our community. The club meets every Tuesday from 2:15-3:15 pm in Room 217 - Mrs. Flaherty's Room. No special talents are required, just a desire to make a difference.
TMS Serves needs your leftover holiday cards. Each December our after school service learning club works to send cheer to our active and retired military men and women during the holiday season. Please consider donating your leftover cards to Mrs. Flaherty in room 217 or Mrs. Leo in the front office.
TMS Serves Fundraisers: Be on the look out for upcoming breakfast and snack sales. TMS Serves will use the money raised to support our efforts to work with those in need.
