Harpool Herald Newsletter

Hello Harpool Families,

I hope you had a wonderful week and were able to spend some quality time together! The weather the past few days has forced me and my crew to slow down a bit, and it sure has been nice!

Congratulations to our Cross Country teams!! Our girls swept, winning both 7th and 8th grade A and B teams. Our 7th grade A and B teams won, and our 8th grade B team boys won.

We're so proud of how the kids ran and competed.

We also want to say thank you to all of our parent and community volunteers who gave their time on Career Day on Friday! Our kids had a great time hearing about all the different careers.

Upcoming Dates:

11/29-8th Grade Field Trip to UNT

12/13-12/16-Early Dismissal and Semester Exams

12/19-1/2-Winter Break

Have a great week!

Colleen Grindle

PTA News!

Have you joined the Harpool Middle School PTA yet? If not, what are you waiting for? Parents, students, grandparents, aunts, uncles… all are welcome to join our PTA. Joining doesn’t mean you have to volunteer or donate anything! (Although we will never turn it down!) It just means you want to support and advocate for the students and staff of Harpool Middle School. Our goal is to have one person representing every student at Harpool as part of our PTA. Don’t wait!! Join today at joinpta.org!

Reflections has been a staple arts program in many schools for over 50 years. Through the efforts of our Local PTAs, millions of students have found a creative outlet in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts. With positive recognition as the focus of this program, rather than competition, students of all ages and abilities can experience the benefits of creative expression and help in finding their own voice in telling their unique story.

This year’s theme is “Show your Voice!” The category rules and student entry forms are available on the Texas PTA Reflections website. The student or at least one person from their primary household must be a current member of Harpool PTA to participate. You may join at joinpta.org. For more information about the program reach out to theHMS PTA Reflections chair, Lissette Castillo, atlis.castillo09@gmail.com.

HMS Student Council

As we have done in the past, we will be collecting new items for the children at Denton Christian Preschool through 7th period classes. Denton Christian Preschool is a non-profit preschool, and a United Way agency. DCP services at-risk 3 & 4-year-olds, from all over Denton County.

Be on the lookout for an email from your student’s 7th period teacher, containing the adoptee’s information. We would like to collect a few of each item on the list. For example, we would like each student to receive 2 pairs of pajamas, 2 packages of underwear, 2 packages of socks, 2 toys/books. Extra donations would be greatly appreciated. They are always in need of extra toothbrushes and toothpaste, as well. Please send all donations with your student no later than Wednesday, November 16th. We are unable to take used items, so please send only new, unwrapped items.

Thank you so much for helping us make this holiday season special for these children in need.
