Preschool Information and Survey!
On June 7th, 2018 the Geneseo school district was notified by the Illinois State Board of Education that we would no longer be receiving funding for the Preschool for All Program (PFA) during the next grant cycle. The grant cycle lasts for three years, making the district ineligible for funding until the 2021-2022 school year. Our preschool is a “Gold Circle of Quality” award winning program that has been funded for the last 26 years. At the June 2018 Board meeting, the Board of Education (BOE) voted to self-fund the program for the 18-19 school year with decisions to be made for upcoming school years at a later date.
At the January 2019 Board of Education meeting, members heard a presentation regarding Preschool and ideas for the upcoming school year. After hearing the information, the BOE unanimously voted to keep preschool in the Geneseo school district for the next two years. Our program is held five days a week and provides transportation. For full information, please see the article below: https://www.geneseorepublic.com/…/state-funds-vanish-genese…
The district is committed to maintaining the program while remaining good stewards of the district’s finances. The district is looking at ways to fund the program through other grants, but may need to charge families a nominal fee for access to the program. Families who qualify for free/reduced status, would pay a free/reduced rate as with our other programs. We are seeking feedback from the community on what an acceptable fee might be until the district can reapply for the PFA Grant in two years. Please complete the following survey by Monday, February 4th, 2019 to provide valuable feedback.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Morning Drop Off Procedures
We want the line to be safe and efficient for everyone and parking directly in front of the doors poses a safety concern for cars passing and holds up other parents.
Please share this reminder with anyone who may drop your children off.
Notes from the Nurse
It's that time of year... Below are the health requirements we expect you to follow to prevent the spread of germs!
- Students must be fever free (without medication) for 24 hours prior to returning to school.
- If your child has been vomiting or has diarrhea, please do not send your child to school until they are able to tolerate solid foods without vomiting or having loose stools.
- If your child needs to take medication during the day (either prescribed or over the counter), a parent or guardian needs to fill out a medical authorization form and turn into the nurse. Medication needs to be brought in by an adult.
- Encourage your child to wash their hands!
Behavior Matrix
What is a Behavior Matrix? What do we practice each day at Millikin to be the best school family we can be? The chart at the right is our Behavior Matrix. We review these expectations in our daily announcements, they are framed and posted around the school and in the classrooms of our teachers.
Students can earn Behavior Tickets for following the Behavior Matrix and making great choices. We celebrate students and announce their great choices on daily announcements. Just like at home- cooperation, respect, and kindness are essential in making Millikin a great place to learn and grow. Ask your child how they work to follow the Behavior Matrix
each day.
PARENT TIP CORNER: Conscious Discipline
