Fall 2018 KAHPERD Slate of Officers

President Elect - Verneda Edwards

Verneda Edwards graduated from Kansas State University with a undergraduate and graduate degree in physical education. After working as a program specialist at a YMCA and K-12 physical educator, she then taught for five years at Wichita State University in the physical education department. From there she moved to Spring Hill, Kansas and has worked in several public-school systems as a teacher and administrator. Currently, Verneda is the Department Chair for the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Department at Baker University.

Member at Large - Brandon Wolff

Brandon has been teaching physical education and health for 17 years. He currently teaches at Maize South Middle School. His belief the physical educator is to guide all students to be healthy, not only physically but mentally and socially for a lifetime. This healthy lifestyle is established due to an exposure of a wide variety of activities which in turn promotes skills needed for self-directed learning and personal knowledge. He is a PYFP trainer, IHT Trainer and Dove Self-Esteem Ambassador and serves on the Shape America Central District Leadership Council. Some of his accomplishments are 2014 KAHPERD Middle School Teacher of the Year, 2015 Shape America Central District Middle School Teacher of the Year, and Let’s Move in Active Schools National Award winner.

Treasurer - Jannelle Robins-Gaede

Jannelle is a graduate of St. Mary of Plains with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and Physical Education and a Master’s in Special Education from Fort Hays State University. Jannelle was Kansas Health Educator of the year in 2000 and Kansas Elementary Physical Education teacher of the year in 2011. She has collaborated with the director of Healthy Kids Challenge to co-author “Acting Up” a physical activity resource guide for Elementary classroom teachers. Jannelle is an active member within KAHPERD, serving as a Council Member and now as Treasurer. After teaching for 32 years, Jannelle is now retired and is working with KSDE as a Wellness Coach, a substitute for USD #457 and she continues to serve as an adjunct for Newman University. Jannelle is truly someone who continues to pursue a course of life long learning.

Legislative/Advocacy - Arianne Siedl

Arianne Seidl teaches Physical Education in Louisburg, Kansas at Rockville Elementary School a K-2nd building. She has taught for 18 years in Kansas, Missouri, and Florida. In 2007, she was selected as the Missouri Elementary PE Teacher of the Year. In 2009, she was selected as Bok Academy Middle School Teacher of the Year in Lake Wales, Florida. Then in 2016 she was selected as Louisburg's Elementary Teacher of the Year. Over the years, she has present in Kansas, Missouri, and Florida a variety of physical education activities. Most recently she has concentrated on sharing how Movement Improves Learners with non-physical education teachers and administration. She is the KAHPERD Legislative Advocacy Committee Chair. Twice she has represented Kansas at SHAPE America's Speak-OUT Day in Washington DC. She keeps busy running marathons, watching her kids play sports, coaching, and serving others.
