Students will have their pictures taken during their world language/reading class. It is important that all students get their picture taken on this day because this is the photograph which is used for the yearbook.
You should receive an email from Lifetouch about the online procedures for ordering the pictures. If you have any questions, please contact me at ericksona@fultonschools.org.
Attendance Matters

This month is Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. We will be talking about suicide prevention and awareness, as well as mental health, throughout September.
According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death for ages 10-24 in the state of Georgia. It is also one of the leading causes of PREVENTABLE death.
FOUR out of FIVE teens who attempt suicide have given clear warning signs. That means that in 80% of these cases, we have an opportunity to intervene and possibly save a young person who is at-risk.
During this month, our school will be drawing attention to the problem of suicide and advocating the prevention of this tragedy. We encourage our students, staff, and the community to participate in Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. We will be sharing resources and activities throughout September to bring awareness to suicide prevention.
If you know someone who is struggling with suicidal thoughts, be a good friend and help them ask for help from a trusted adult. Here at school, we have school counselors, a social worker and psychologist who are available to provide help. Thank you for supporting this initiative!
Our counselors are a great resource.

If you completed the Volunteer Registration before June 2022, you are REQUIRED to complete an application again using the link below. The good news is that this will cover multiple schools, so you only have to fill out the form once and make sure you cover all of the schools you have children attending.
https://www.fultonschools.org/Page/9539
This may be an inconvenience, but it's necessary to ensure the safety of all our students and is required by Safety & Security for Fulton County Schools. It is MANDATORY before you are permitted to volunteer in the building or in a capacity where students will be present.
Luckily the process takes less than 5 minutes! And will be active for two (2) years.
Please click the link below to complete the process immediately.
https://www.fultonschools.org/Page/9539
Lastly, when signing into the Raptor system at school, volunteers must click the VOLUNTEER option, only, NOT visitor.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Ivy Bridge Academy Debate Program

Ivy Bridge Academy's After-School Public Speaking & Debate program offers a chance for students to learn techniques of public speaking and engage with current events through the activity of debate.
Students enhance their research skills, critical thinking, organizational skills, persuasion tactics, and information processing by learning about both sides of an issue and being able to persuasively argue for either side.
Students who participate in our program will leave with a sense of accomplishment and a skill set that will help them in academics and their future careers. Direct tangible benefits from our program include increased confidence speaking in front of others, improved writing skills, greater vocabulary, better information-processing, and more open-minded critical thinking about some complex topics.
Register for Debate on Tuesday's after school!
