Hello FUSD Staff and Community,

At this week’s Board of Education meeting, Trustees voted to bring FUSD into alignment with updated California Department of Public Health and Alameda County Public Health Department guidance that moves from mask requirements to mask recommendations in TK-12 school settings after March 11.

As of March 12, FUSD will shift from requiring masks to strongly recommending masks inside FUSD facilities. Outdoor masking is optional.

We understand and appreciate that there is a wide range of reactions to this change. We ask all students, staff and our wider community to help uphold FUSD’s culture of respect and compassion for others during this transition in our universal precautions. Each individual and family must make the most appropriate choices for their situation, and all of us must continue to work through this pandemic together, with deliberate and thoughtful progress as conditions improve in our community.

While this is a change in how we co-exist with COVID-19, it doesn’t mark the end of this pandemic. We will continue to follow public health guidance, tightening and loosening restrictions as needed.

See information later in this newsletter regarding the health and safety protocols that will continue to be in effect in FUSD.

In other news, FUSD is hosting a presentation in the coming months to update our community on Bond-funded construction projects. We’ll share details on our progress to date and the work ahead on projects throughout FUSD made possible by Fremont voters who generously supported Measure E in 2014 to build and modernize neighborhood schools. More information to come in the next newsletter.

Thank you all for your continued support for our students, staff and schools.
