Business Meeting

The Board enjoyed a presentation about Blended Learning which was given by Mrs. Tracy Smith, Assistant to the Superintendent for Operations along with the following team:


Beth Breiner, Coordinator of Educational Technology

Kate Robbins, Parkland High School Mathematics Teacher

Melissa Goldstein, Parkland High School Mathematics Teacher

Lisa Pany, Springhouse Middle School 6th Grade Teacher

Lauren Will, Parkland High School Instructional Technology Coach

Sami Jo Crivellaro, Microsoft IT Academy Teacher


Goals of the program:

• To motivate students to learn while they are developing life-long learning habits.

• To improve student academic performance and growth.

• Develop digital age competencies.

• Enhance teacher effectiveness.

• Improve school efficiency.

Parkland High School and Middle School summer school dates were approved to be June 29 - August 6, 2015.

Roundtable

The next Community Advisory Council meeting will occur Thursday at Kratzer Elementary where participants will tour the newly renovated parts of the building.

Everyone commented on how much they enjoyed the Blended Learning presentation. They thanked the teacher presenters for being pioneers in education and leading the way for others to follow as the format incorporating technology tools and online learning resources in classrooms will expand to 24 classrooms next school year. They also thanked Dellicker Strategies for their guidance during the pilot year as well as Kelly Rosario, Beth Breiner, Lauren Will and Tracy Smith for their leadership. Board President Roberta Marcus remarked that she was proud of the team and grateful for their passion.

Everyone congratulated Tony Naradko as it was announced that he will replace Jeff Emig upon retirement at the end of the school year as the District's Assistant Director of School Services for Transportation & Safety.

Next meeting: March 24, 2015 at 8 PM.

Foundation Gala is May 4th.
