I need each teacher who records their Teams meetings to go into Stream and if there is a check in the box to share publicly, uncheck it (see video directions below). Over the last several days, I have manually removed the check box for over 100 videos of teachers and students that anyone could view. As of me sending this message, all the videos containing students have been changed to private. However, there are still MANY videos of teachers teaching their lessons (by themselves) that they probably don’t want all to see. Please, have them check their video settings in Stream and DO NOT check the box for future recordings. If they want to share the video with students, they can download and place into MyVRSpot using the direction Ruth shared previously. Once we get the rostering in Teams worked out, it will make life a lot easier. This link is a quick video showing them how to change their video privacy settings in both Stream and MyVRSpot (3:52): https://live.myvrspot.com/iframe?v=ZmY1N2U5OWM4OTI0ZjliNDZiYTM0ZDIzMGFmOGE2ODI

Dreambox Requirements
Thank you for jumping straight into Dreambox this year! We have seen high student usage which is great!!! I just wanted to quickly remind you of the student usage weekly expectations as well as how to turn of the arcade setting.
K-2 Expectations: 7-10 Lessons Weekly
3rd-5th Expectations: 7-8 Lessons Weekly
Dreambox Informational Presentation from last year-also saved in our #Mashburn Team Drive—Technology—Dreambox Folder.
Turning On/Off Arcade Settings
Also, please don’t forget to log into the Dreambox Dashboard at least once a week to monitor your students’ progress. If you see that a student has started a bunch of lessons but has not completed any, you may want to pull them aside and remind them that they need to have at least 7 completed lessons. If your team would like for me to review the dashboard information, just let me know and we can go over this as a group!
Curriculum Night Presentations
Curriculum Night will be virtual this year! As a grade level, please make a Google Slides presentation including the information linked below. Each slide should have a quick screencast video of the topic. It will be one presentation per grade level so feel free to divide and conquer!
Presentations are due to Carol Ann by Sept. 18th

Mashburn book bags are now available to order!! We would like to encourage parents to purchase a reading bag for their child. Each bag is only $5.00, and part of the proceeds will go toward purchasing new books for Mashburn students! The book bags will provide a safe way to hold all your students’ Independent Reading Materials while at school. The durable straps will allow the bags to hang over the backs of classroom chairs. Students look forward to unpacking their Reading Book Bag every day! See the link or QR Code below to make your purchase today!

Microsoft Teams Update:
Teams Meeting Videos
- We have run into an issue with the recordings of Teams Meetings. When one records a Teams Meeting and sets permissions for everyone in the district to be able to view the video, literally everyone in the district (students included) can go into Stream and watch anyone’s videos. Some private meetings have been recorded and posted for all to see, so due to privacy issues, access to Stream videos has been turned off for all students.
- As a result, you can no longer grab the video link and post it or the embed code somewhere for others to view the video in your Itslearning page.
- At this time, that leaves us with one option for Teams Meeting Videos.
- Download the video, upload to MyVRSpot, and post the MyVRSpot link or embed code somewhere (itslearning). Directions for Recording, Downloading, and Posting Teams Meeting
- I told several teachers to open MyVR Spot first, and then do a screencast during the Teams Meeting. Unfortunately, we found that this causes many glitches with the Teams platform so the best option is to download the video and then upload to MyVr Spot.
Messaging in ItsLearning
Messaging in Itslearning
- Since I am now enrolled in quite a few courses, I have been noticing that when some teachers are sending out class messages, they are sending them as Group conversations instead of individual messages. As long as you are constantly monitoring this message feed, that isn’t a big issue. However, that option allows all students to chat with one another. Comments can be quickly removed without the teacher seeing them. So, you may just want to caution your teachers about this option. By default, the class message is sent to as individual messages.
- You can always go into a Group conversation, click at the top of the conversation, and select Close Conversation.
- If there is a conversation left open from the past and the teacher no longer has access to it, you can either have a student in the conversation report it as abuse to you or you can go in as a student in the conversation and report it as abuse to yourself. You will then get a message in itslearning that will allow you to close the conversation.
