Brilliant Brains Bulletin- PreK
August & September
Current Studies and Explorations
In August, students used LEGOs to build their ideal schools, which gave insight into students' learning preferences. We learned about the word "interest" and discussed students' own topics of interest and how this can help drive and connect to our future studies throughout the year. Throughout September our focus will be on "living & non-living" things in our environment. We will discuss the processes and practices employed by scientists. Through hands-on investigations and experiments, students will make observations and inferences and collect data authentically to learn more about the world around them. We will use tools such as magnifying glasses and rulers to extend our senses. Students will begin creating their own digital portfolios, which they will maintain throughout the school year.
a message from Mrs. Rhodes and Mrs. Redmon
We are so honored to be a part of your child's education this year. We will be working with your child each week. So far this year we are having a blast! This week you should receive a note home about students' digital portfolios. These portfolios will be our place for collecting artifacts of what we do in class and a great way for you to easily view what your child is up to throughout the year. Please complete and return the digital portfolio permission form as soon as possible and have your child return the note to his or her homeroom teacher. Parents, I sent each of you an e-mail. If you did not receive an e-mail from me, this means I don't have your correct and most current e-mail address on file! Please contact me at breigh.rhodes @ zacharyschools.org so that I can add you to my list. If you do not wish to receive e-mail communication about your child and what we are doing in class, please let me know. Also, I would be thrilled to hear from you! If you ever have questions or concerns please feel welcome to email me.
