Hybrid Learning Model Schedules
All students (virtual & hybrid) will follow our new schedules:
Hybrid Car Rider Information
Car rider pick up will be in two waves in order to minimize amount of students waiting in the gym and follow social distancing guidelines:
If you have multiple children at MYES, please arrive at 2:00. If you have only one child, please arrive at 2:15.
We are sending students to the gym according to this schedule. If you are only picking up one child, do not come early as your child will not be down at the gym for dismissal until after 2:15. Your adherence to these times will greatly support our school dismissal- thank you in advance!!
MYES will continue to use the hang tag system. New families have been issued two tags per family. If you did not receive during new student tours, the tags will be distributed on the first day of your child's cohort. Former families, please use the tags issued to you previously. If you have misplaced your tags, email marsha.meredith@fcps.org.
Hybrid Bus Transportation
Myersville Elementary students who have selected the hybrid model of instruction are scheduled to begin in-person classes on Tuesday, February 16. To accommodate students who require bus transportation, and in order to ensure safe distancing, FCPS has created new bus routes and pick-up/drop off times. This information is now available for families prior to the first day of in-person class.
In order to determine what bus your student is scheduled to ride, along with pickup and drop off times, please go to the following link: Transportation Bus Routes
Click on "Bus Stop Information". Enter your street number in the first block, followed by your street name in the second block, then click "Submit." Pickup and drop off times should appear on the next screen with appropriate bus route number.
Hybrid Learning Model Reminders
Safety Measures:
Mask Expectations: Everyone in the school building will wear a face covering while at school. The information linked here is intended to provide clarity about the FCPS requirements for wearing face coverings in school buildings.
Daily COVID-19 Screening Questions: Each week, parents will receive a communication that contains daily screening questions prior to coming to school. Direct emails and/or calls will be sent using the contact information in our Student Information System. Reminders for students will also be communicated in Schoology. The screening form is linked for your convenience here.
Virtual Attendance in the Event of Mild Symptoms: If students are experiencing any symptoms of illness, they should stay home and parents should follow up with their child's health care provider. Students are encouraged to attend virtually any day they are not in school if they feel well enough to do so (even if it is a day for which they are scheduled to be in person). Please provide a note if your child is not able to attend in person or virtually due to illness.
Close Contact and Quarantine Details for Parents - What to Expect: When a positive COVID-19 case is confirmed, FCPS will conduct a case investigation to determine if there was any close contact with other individuals. Close contact means that an individual was within six feet for a prolonged period of more than a cumulative of fifteen minutes over a 24-hour period. All identified close contacts will be immediately notified and asked to quarantine for ten days and monitor for potential symptoms. If the close contact becomes symptomatic, the individual should seek assistance from their healthcare provider.
Quarantine means:
- Stay home except to obtain medical care.
- Your child may not participate in any in person school activities.
- Avoid public spaces and practice physical distancing of six feet or more from other people.
- Wear a mask at all times around other people.
Monitoring means:
- Watch for fever. Check temperature twice a day, at least 6 hours apart and record in a log.
- If your student or anyone else in the household develops symptoms such as a fever, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pains, sore throat, or a new loss of taste or smell, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
For further details, the FCPS guidance for Student Health and Safety and COVID-19 Response Plan can be found at this link.
Governor Hogan's Travel Order: The governor issued an emergency order requiring Marylanders to limit all travel to essential purposes only. All Marylanders who do travel outside of Maryland must either obtain a negative COVID-19 test result or self-quarantine for 10 days. The exceptions to the order include Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Hybrid students who travel outside of MD will need to follow the governor's order and should access virtual instruction upon return for 10 days or until a negative COVID test is obtained.
Reducing Visitors to the School Building: For the protection of our staff and students, we will significantly limit visitors in the building. If you need to speak with administration or with someone at the school, please call the office in advance (most meetings will be held via phone or Google Meet). All students are afforded access to a free breakfast and lunch each day, so there should be minimal need for food to be dropped off for students. If you need to drop off or pick up anything else at school, you will be asked to leave it or pick up in the vestibule (thus limiting traffic in our front office).
Other Additional Information:
Water Bottles: All students who are attending in person hybrid instruction may bring a refillable water bottle labeled with their first and last name. FCPS water fountains will be used for the sole purpose of filling water bottles at school as needed.
Virtual Snow Day Information: In the event of inclement weather, FCPS may call for a virtual learning day where all students will access learning from home. Students at all levels (i.e., elementary, middle, and high) will follow that day's regular class schedule (i.e. If the virtual snow day is on a Tuesday, students will follow their normal Tuesday class schedule).
Free Breakfast and Lunch for Hybrid Students
2020-2021 SCHOOL BREAKFAST AND LUNCH
We are excited to announce that the USDA has approved FREE meals for all children 18 years old and younger!
STARTING FEBRUARY 16, all FCPS schools will serve breakfast, lunch and supper (to-go) for FREE to all children learning in school buildings on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
All meals will be individually wrapped or compartmentalized.
Free breakfast and lunch meals will be available to children in cohort A on Mondays and Tuesdays while they are in school and to children in cohort B on Thursdays and Fridays while they are in the school. On these days when students are learning in a school building, they can also take a free to-go meal home for supper that same day.
Due to the amount of food being distributed for the remainder of the days, we encourage families who want additional meals for the days when students are not in the school building learning (virtual days at home, weekends, holidays) to pick up the additional meals at the child’s school on a day when they are learning in the building or visit one of the open community sites on Wednesdays and/or Fridays from 11am-1pm to pick up the additional meals.
Out of District Transfers
The FCPS Department of Student Services is now receiving requests for transfers to schools outside of a student's home attendance district for the 2021-2022 school year. Requests to transfer from a student's home school district must be made by parents/legal guardians. Guidelines for requests are outlined in FCPS Regulations 400-15 and 400-78
Parents/guardians must apply for an out-of-district transfer annually. Therefore, if your child is currently attending a school out of your attendance district, you must complete and submit an application if you would like to request that your child remain at that school.
If a school's enrollment is over capacity, it is necessary to restrict out-of-district student transfers to those schools. This includes students whose daycare providers are located outside their assigned attendance area.
Please click here to see school enrollment information: 2021-2022 restricted schools
Out-of-district requests submitted as the result of school redistricting by the Board of Education may be denied.
Parents or guardians who wish to request an out-of-district transfer for the 2021-2022 school year must apply by completing an out-of-district application. The applications are available in English and Spanish. The application can also be found online at http://www.fcps.org under the "For Families and Students" tab. The application window is open until March 1, 2021. Families will be notified of the decision by April 1, 2021.
If you need assistance, please call (240) 236-2493.
Coronavirus Dashboard
FCPS has added a link on the school system's web homepage to the Maryland Department of Health's Coronavirus Dashboard. The dashboard features a Schools Data tab that serves as a resource for anyone who wants information about COVID outbreaks in school buildings.
Schools are listed as having an outbreak when the following occur:
*At least two confirmed COVID-19 cases among students/teachers/staff within a 14-day period, epidemiologically linked outside of household contacts; or
*Three or more classrooms or cohorts with cases from separate households that meet the classroom/cohort outbreak definition, occurring within 14 days; or
*Five percent or more unrelated students/teachers/staff with confirmed COVID-19 within a 14-day period (minimum of 10 unrelated students/teachers/staff).
FCPS also continues to link to the dashboard at www.fcps.org/update.
