September Career Awareness Update
What did we do last month?
YouScience and Career Awareness Kickoff!
Penta Career Center is partnering with all sixteen member school districts ranging from grades 7-12 implementing YouScience. Through the use of YouScience, students will engage in aptitude tests to identify and connect their natural talents with real-world careers. From there, students will create career development plans to use as a guide for course selection, career exploration, future planning, etc.
Students are learning the difference between an aptitude and an interest and how they can mesh the two together to explore careers they have never heard of before. The goal is to expose students to many different careers.
STAY TUNED NEXT MONTH FOR OUR CAREER AWARENESS KICK OFF!
Career Awareness for 2nd & 5th Grade
I will be teaching Career Awareness lessons based off of the sixteen career clusters in two of our member school districts, Springfield and Eastwood. Each of the six classrooms will receive a Career Awareness Kit that has everything they need to teach the lesson. The teachers have been given the option to teach, co-teach or utilize me as their guest teacher.
We are so excited about all of the great things students will experience as a result of this this partnership with our amazing member school districts!

Member School Spotlight!
To kick of the school year, I visited Otsego and presented about YouScience during their staff PD day.
From there, I helped our new Career Connection's teacher, Christine May, implement YouScience in her 7th and 8th grade classrooms.
In September, I worked with Genoa, Oak Harbor, and Woodmore CBI instructor, Kim Koffman to introduce YouScience to her students.
To finish out the month, I co-taught with Eastwood Middle School's counselor, Connie Rutherford to help the 8th graders investigate their YouScience results.
