By G Johnson

Greeks performed tragedies, comedies and satyr plays. They had eleborate masks, costumes and stage sets. They also had characters full of personality. Greek tragedy started as poems but slowly progressed into plays

Drama started in Greece. The performance space had four areas: the orchestra which is the dancing space. The second space is the theatron which is the viewing area, the third one, the skene which is a big tent and the last one, the parodos which are the passageways.

By the 600's the Greeks were performing singing and dancing at festivles honoring Dionysus the God of wine and fertility. The most important period of Greek drama was over by the 400's.
