Ulysses S. Grant
Early Years
Grant was born on April 27, 1822 in Ohio. He was Educated at U.S. Military Academy at West Point.Grant took part in the Mexican American War and began to think war was wrong. He had a family, and after a long time of not seeing them he began to drink, giving him an infamous reputation.
Contribution to the Civil War
Ulysses S. Grant served as U.S. general and commander of the Union forces during the late years of the American Civil War.
Life after the civil war
After his success as Union General, Grant Ran for president (Due to Lincolns assassination) And by the popular vote he became the 18th president of the U.S. Grant died on July 23, 1885.Grant was buried in the General Grant Memorial in NYC.Grant is memorialized at the Ulysses S. Grant loved to ride horses. He also gained a reputation for drinking. After graduation Grant was stationed at St. Louis, Missouri, where he found his future wife, Julia Dent, he proposed marriage in 1844.
