Dear Parents:
I wish all students and parents a joyous winter break and holiday season. Please take this time to rest, rejuvenate, and enjoy those significant in your life.
Advisory
With the winter break and the new year upon us each grade’s Advisory lesson focused on reflection and giving. In sixth grade, our students reflected on their 2023 year with an emphasis on the first half of the school year. After reflecting on things they are proud of, challenges they faced, and lessons they learned, students turned the page and started to think about 2024. Using a vision board students used a fun and creative way to showcase their goals and dreams for the new year. Students were encouraged to keep their vision boards in place where they can view them often and be reminded of their goals and aspirations for the new year. Our seventh graders participated in a community service project for members of our elderly community. As students shared things that they were grateful for it was discussed that many people are alone during this time of year. To highlight that there are several ways to show you care, each student made a snowperson craft and wrote a little message to go along with the gift. These gifts will be given to members of SAGE elderly care in Summit. In eighth grade, our students took some time to thank people in our own school community. Given the challenges we all face daily, it is important to thank and appreciate all those individuals that help us on a daily basis. Students were encouraged to write an “I appreciate” letter to any teacher, staff member, student and/or coach that they wanted to show their appreciation and gratitude towards. We want to wish everyone a relaxing and enjoyable Winter Break and Happy New Year.
