What's Happening, Patriots?
P.E. with Mrs. Potter
Our big focus this year in PE is Sportsmanship. We are learning what it means to be a good sport and how we can show good sportsmanship. This week in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade we played games and demonstrated how we can be a good sport when we are the winner.
In Kindergarten and 1st grade we are working on following directions and learning different ways our body moves. We are also having lots of fun playing silly games with our new friends.
Students from Mrs. Stansberry's kindergarten class are having a good time playing Chicken Taco Tag.
Students in Mrs. Wroblewski's 3rd grade class are playing Catch It, Keep It. Liam, Ali, and Alice are waiting for their partner to toss the bean bag to them to see if they can keep the spot they are standing on.
Miss Baker's Third Grade: Comparing Large Numbers
Today in Room 32, we compared large numbers by looking at houses for sale in Fishers. We worked in groups to order the price of houses from least to greatest or greatest to least. Then, we looked at the square footage of houses to compare and order those. We practiced important life skills like communication and collaboration as well as math skills like comparing and ordering large numbers.

You can leave a message 24 hours a day.
You can also email Amy Powell at apowell@hse.k12.in.us.
Notifying the teacher is fine, but it is the parents' responsibility to report to Attendance the reason for an absence, otherwise it will be marked as Unexcused.
Please feel free to review the District Attendance and Absence Policy in the Elementary School Handbook https://hpe.hseschools.org/student/student-handbook
Speech Language Corner
Speech screening will be conducted with all students in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades, and all new students to HPE. Speech errors that are age appropriate will be documented, monitored and in some cases, packets will be sent home to practice speech error sounds. Non age appropriate speech errors may warrant speech therapy, thus you will be contacted to discuss program options.
Feel free to contact me via email (tvanhorn@hse.k12.in.us) if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's speech or hearing abilities.
Thanks and let's have a great year!
