This song represents not conforming to society, in the song he explains that people are trying to control his life. He says that "you can speak your mind but not on my time".

Stereotypes are over generalizations of a group or groups of people.
This song exemplifies gender stereotypes, it is stereotypical to think that the woman is reliant on the man in the relationship. This song shows how the patriarchal society is still prevalent today.
Compliance- We're not gonna take it (Twisted Sister)
Compliance is the action of complying to something you're told to do. This song exemplifies not being compliant with what they're being told to do. Most of the song is them singing "we're not gonna take it", trying to get the point across by using repetition.
Individualism- Miss Independent (Kelly Clarkson)
Individualism is about being independent and self-reliant. In the song she says "never let a man help her off her throne", this shows that she can do things herself and doesn't need anyone else to help her.

People are social animals and feel a need to belong. This song is about trying to figure out where you belong and that it's okay to not know right away.

Self esteem is having confidence in yourself and having self-respect. This song is about being confident and having high self esteem.
Zimbardo's Prison Study-Know Your Rights (The Clash)
"You have the right not to be killed. Murder is a crime, Unless it was done by a policeman or aristocrat. Oh, know your rights."
They say "Murder is a crime, unless it was done by a policeman..", these lyrics explain their feelings on police brutality which relates back to the participants in Zimbardo's study behaving how they think the police officers should behave.
