Warmer Oceans
by Ty Lehman, and Schyler Liberator
What is the effect of warmer oceans to the animals that live in the ocean?
Water has a very high specific heat capacity. It takes a lot heat to make the temperature of water to increase.
#1. Sea levels will rise by 7-23 inches by the end of this century due to global warming.
#2. It effects the weather patterns, and also causes more powerful tropical storms, and can impact many sea life, like corals and fish and change their habitats.
#3. The last two decades of the 20th century have been hottest in the last 400 years
#4. Shellfish, crabs, lobsters, and corals may find it more difficult to build their shells. In some areas, calcium carbonate shells may even start to dissolve because of acid in the water caused by global warming.
coral ref will die because of warmer oceans
#5. Rise of the ocean temperature is considered one of the most harmful results of global warming.
#7. The number of male and female offspring is determined by temperature for marine turtles.
#8.For many species, temperature is a cue for reproduction. Changes in sea temperature could affect their successful breeding.
warmer oceans will effect the turtle nesting
#9. The top ten feet of the ocean hold as much heat as our entire atmosphere.
#10. Coral reefs are suffering the worst bleaching with the highest dying record since 1980.
#11. More than 1 million species including marine life, have become extinct due to disappearing habitats caused by global warming.
#12. Changes to ocean temperature are reducing oxygen levels in deeper waters. " Marine life is finding it harder to breathe'.
