Week of October 19th
From the Desk of Mrs. Schmid
It was a great week this past week at Brookdale Elementary! We quickly learned a positive to to the 20-21 school year is we get many first days of school, and we got two this week! As the bell rang on Thursday and Friday, halls were alive again and filled with some of our students from 1st and 5th grade! There were tears of joy, smiles, giggles, discussions, and learning exuberating from students and staff alike. It has been since March that a class of students walked the halls of Brookdale Elementary, and it felt SO good to make a step forward during these challenging times. Those whose children came for in-person, we hope they left with big smiles and excitement to return next week for he/she's two days. We also appreciate the flexibility of our students and families from Group C and A/B on their home days as schedules changed.
As we had said before, the success of this pilot is not just a win for Brookdale, it is a win for District 204! We thank you greatly for your support in conjunction with our theme this year of "taking chances and opportunities". We have already learned a great deal and look forward to all the continuous learning and feedback we gain from this pilot. We are taking these learnings as we begin planning for our in-person learning K-5 to start the week of November 2nd. As we confirm plans, we will be sure to share those with you.
If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or your child's classroom teacher.
Thank you for your continuous support,
