- Summer School Required- you are an 8th grader that is required to complete SHS Jump Start in order to qualify for placement at SHS this fall.
- Retention- you are required to repeat your current grade.
Report cards will also include a summer newsletter with information about registration for the 2017-2018 school year. Watch for your letter to arrive in the mail by June 10th.
Happy Retirement!
SMS is losing 50 years of teaching experience when Mrs. Anderkin and Mr. Wells retire this week!
Mrs. Anderkin taught ELA here for 28 years. During that time, she has been the ONLY team leader for her team and she's been a department chair and building association representative. And who remembers a dance or concert without Mrs. Anderkin there? She supports our school in so many ways! During her well-deserved retirement, Mrs. Anderkin will be spending time with her new grand baby Riley, reading, traveling, and if we are very lucky, substitute teaching at SMS!
Mr. Wells taught in our district for 22 years (prior to joining our district, Mr. Wells taught and coached at Salem.) Mr. Wells taught English, PE, and Health at SHS for 18 years and he's been our 6th and 7th grade PE teacher of the last four years. Mr. Wells has also coached basketball in our district for a total of 18 years. Mr. Wells doesn't really understand the meaning of the word retirement. He's already started his new job as Head CC Coach and Assistant Track Coach at Hanover College. Mr. Wells will also continue with his personal running career. He's competed in 21 marathons already. How many more do you think he'll run?
Mrs. Anderkin and Mr. Wells, thank you for your service and for sharing your passion with us! Best wishes for a wonderful new life chapter. We love you and we hope to see you regularly in the years ahead!
YGC Grant Winners!
