Good News!

  • MHS assistant principal Tim Hoffman completed his Ph.D. at UNCC. Congrats to DR. Hoffman!
  • MHS 10th grade English teacher Kelsey Agar, along with MHS Media Coordinator, Kristi Kallio, presented at the NCSLMA annual conference on Oct. 24, 2015. Their session was entitled "All Hands on Deck: Collaborative Student Projects". One of Kelsey's former students, Chanzé Cloete, presented her research and multi-media project to the Media Coordinators who attended the conference. Positive comments about the MHS presentation were uploaded to Twitter by the NCSLMA social media officer.
  • MHS choir director Melanie Kalkan, MMS choir teacher Amy McComas, and MMS Tech Facilitator Felicia Davis presented a session in the Innovations category at the National Association of Music Education conference in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday, Oct 27. The session was called #bebrave15: Service Learning to Equip Student Leaders through Performance.
  • MIS foreign language lab teacher Anne Youngs received the November ABCD award and PVES teacher assistant Michelle Ross received the December ABCD award for always going Above and Beyond the Call of Duty.
  • PVE school nurse, Amber Perkins, successfully completed her National School Nurse Certification Exam.
  • MHS French teacher Olivia Robinson got engaged, as well as MHS science teacher Lindsay Knippenberg!
  • Central Office administrative assistant Nancy Mangan is celebrating her daughter's graduation from App State... Her field of study? Middle and high school education!
  • Bus driver Kateaka Brown just wrapped up her last semester at Catawba College with a Bachelor Degree in Music. Way to go, Kateaka!
  • The PVES Nutrition Staff won the Golden Whisk Award for Top Marketing School in the Mooresville Graded School District for the first quarter of the school year.
  • South Elementary School Kindertgarten teacher Amber Smith celebrated the New Year by getting married on January 2, 2016. Welcome Mrs. Amber Blashaw!
  • South Elementary School former student teacher Vanessa Harmon has accepted a position as a full time certified 1st Grade Teacher!
  • South Elementary School Title One Tutor Erin Parrot has accepted a certified full time 3rd Grade Teaching Position!
  • Dr. Scott Smith, MGSD Chief Technology Officer, was named to the Center for Digital Education's Top 30 Technologist, Transformers and Trailblazers list. To read more about Dr. Smith, follow this link!
