Winter Weather Gear
Students are welcome to bring snow gear to school, however, they must be able to put everything on and take everything off independently and quickly. We have very limited time for transitions before and after recess and with 20 students, I cannot assist with much more that zippers and stay on schedule.
Recommendations:
1. Label everything!! (The school has a Lost and Found that students are welcome to look through if something is missing.)
2. Send snow/waterproof gloves, hat or ear muffs, winter coat, and a scarf/neck warmer;
3. Snow boots are optional, but not necessary as there is plenty of blacktop area that gets cleared to play on. Save the snow pants/bibs for after school.
3. Practice at home: putting on and taking off snow boots, snow pants/bib, and zipping coats.
4. Sending boots and pants/bibs in their own (labeled) bag is helpful for keeping students belongings organized.
From the School Nurse
Fall/Winter is upon us now and so is the cold, flu and allergy season! There are many children needing medication during the day, so this is a good time to give a quick reminder to everyone about the school district medication policy.
If you need us to give students medication at school, we must have the following items in place:
- A physician’s order with the time and dose of medicine to be given.
- A signed parent permission form permitting the school to administer medication.
- All medications MUST be in original containers. (Do not send pills or even cough drops in baggies or other containers.)
- Prescription medication must come in the pharmacy bottle. Pharmacies will supply you with an extra bottle for school upon request. Note: the Pharmacy label does not serve as doctor orders.
