A Message from Our Assistant Principal
As we move into our third week of school, our classrooms have hit the ground running with instruction. Deshler Middle School is prioritizing academics by taking a deeper look into ALL students’ academic profiles as we set goals to increase ELA and math scores on achievement tests. While data is not the primary focus of student success, it does provide guidance on how we can best support our students.
The past two years have caused educational deficits for many of our students. We look forward to partnering with our stakeholders to maximize our students' academic potential. We have postponed our Open House to a later date, so that we can share student data with you and build a plan to ensure that our students thrive. This week our ELA and math teachers will attend data meetings and make plans to close achievement gaps and remediate skills that are challenging our students.
This year we have the opportunity to provide tutoring for students once again. Teachers will provide ELA and math tutoring, Monday-Thursday. We will be providing two different tutoring sessions, remediation tutoring and traditional tutoring. Remediation tutoring is invitation only; however, traditional tutoring is available to all students who may need classroom support. Please keep in mind that tutoring is not a time for students to complete homework. Tutoring is an opportunity for students to receive additional support on skills that are challenging them. More information on how to enroll your student will be provided soon.
Our teachers, faculty, and staff will continue to provide an open line of communication for any questions or concerns that may arise throughout the school year. We value you and your input and know that we can accomplish success as we work together this school year.
