How Homeschoolers Celebrate the Last Day of School!
We had an Olympic Games end of the year party.
~ Shaneen, MVA Parent
We're celebrating by going to the beach!!
~ Audrey, MVA Parent & Family Liaison
We’ll be doing schoolwork over the summer, but we’re definitely hitting the beach next week!
~ Meredith, MVA Parent & HST
Having an “End of Year Open House” next week. Hanging artwork, history and science fair posters, a stack of books read this year, poems written and more. Kiddo is baking treats by herself and we invited all the family over to walk through any time during a 4-hour window so she can have one on one time with them as they come to talk through the year.
~ Erin, MVA Parent
We are going to celebrate by playing games, making ice cream sundaes, and splashing around in the pool!
~ Andrea, MVA Parent & Family Liaison
I taught first grade at the school my children attended, so both of my daughters got to experience our "A-Z Countdown to Summer!" I knew we had to do it this year so my first-grade little guy could experience it! We did an activity to match a letter of the alphabet for each of the last 26 days of school. Some were just fun: on I- Ice Cream Day, we made homemade ice cream! On the letters that start my kids' names, they got to pick the activity (and of course they all chose to have root beer floats). Some were academic: on B- Brain day, we incorporated our science unit and made spinal cords and diagramed a nucleus. Some were more serious: on Q- Quarantine Day we filled out a time capsule worksheet about this historic moment. On R- Responsibility Day, we had an in-depth discussion about our responsibilities surrounding race. It was a special way to end our first year of homeschool. The kids loved it so much they asked me to do something similar for the entire school year in the fall. I said, "Maybe for each week 😉." Happy Summer!

ChoicePlus Academy MIDDLE SCHOOL
Exciting news for middle schoolers!
ChoicePlus Academy offers uniquely designed courses and teachers who are actively involved in motivating students toward course completion and success. CPA is a supportive and engaging environment that brings the learning center to the home. Teachers and students interact together, and we believe that learning is a social construct and should be filled with collaboration and joy!
CPA courses are taught live by highly qualified teachers (HQTs), and are comprehensive and meet state and Common Core standards.
What these courses include:
1. A live online teacher 1-2 times per week at a scheduled time teaching live online lessons.
2. That live teacher oversees your student’s progress and provides office hours if they have questions about their lessons.
3. That live teacher will help grade your student.
This is a great new option for our families with middle schoolers!
Check out all the 2020/21 South Schools' Adopted Curriculum options HERE.

During this online orientation, your Family Liaisons will present you with an understanding and an overview of the school's resources and provide you with links. There will also be a question and answer portion. We hope to see you there!

Mission Vista Academy Family Liaisons
Audrey Everson
Hi everyone! I am a mom of 3 awesome kids ranging in age from 11 to 7 years old. My husband and I are high school sweethearts and have been married for 17 years. Having homeschooled our children over the last 8 years in 3 different states, I've found homeschooling here in California, especially with Mission Vista Academy, has been a great fit for our homeschool journey. I am grateful for our ability to homeschool so freely and I aspire to assist other families with their own homeschool adventures!
Robi Frederick
Hi there! I am a mom of two girls, 10 and 11 years old, and have been homeschooling from the start. I am also the wife of a very supportive hubby of almost 14 years. We are raising our children in the Coachella Valley and excited to see how the homeschooling community has grown in our area, as well as the resources. I am very grateful that I have this opportunity to homeschool my children. I love to help and encourage families and assist in building our homeschooling resources in the Desert Area.
Andrea Hart
