A Message from the Superindendent:
First and foremost, I’d like to reiterate our heartfelt thanks to the Boone Community for passing the most recent bond, allowing us to build a new elementary school!
We have started our pre-design meetings and with that work will come a variety of topics and decisions to be made prior to the opening of the new school in the Fall of 2023. One item that was brought up during the bond information meetings and has come up since is the issue of grade configurations. What grade levels should go into the new elementary school? While it would be nice to simply make a decision based on the new school, this particular decision has the potential to impact other buildings throughout our district.
So, we would like to start the conversation about what our community feels is the appropriate grade configuration for our district. Below, you will find a link to a survey for you to mark the pros and cons you feel best fit each grade configuration scenario. Thank you, in advance for your participation and input. As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have at jtrepa@boone.k12.ia.us or 515-433-0995 ext. 1120.
Covid Updates
Our school district continues to be dedicated to keeping our students and staff healthy and safe so the following guidelines will continue:
•Mask mandate is still in effect!
• Continue to wear masks at all times in the hallways, classrooms and throughout the school. Many students are arriving at school without a mask. Parents, please ensure that your students come to school with clean masks to wear everyday.
• Masks may be removed while eating lunch.
•Students should not arrive at school too early prior to doors opening, as supervision of social distancing is not always possible.
•Encourage students and staff to continue good hand washing procedures and maintaining 3-6 foot distance.
•As of April 5th, students 16 or older are eligible to be vaccinated or obtain appointments for vaccination. Parents are encouraged to check with their health care providers if a student has preexisting conditions.
•If students develop symptoms, such as a low grade fever after vaccination, we would like them to stay home and isolate until side effects have resolved.
•It is difficult to tell if a student (unvaccinated) has allergy symptoms or Covid. The only way to know is to have them tested for COVID. A fully vaccinated person has a little more leeway. Consider testing if symptoms occur after close contact with a known positive exposure. Please forward COVID-19 test results to your student’s school nurse.
TK students at Page have been learning about weather and different weather systems. They have learned about sunny days, clouds and rain and will continue to explore weather throughout the rest of the month!

EDGE/EXCEL Service Day
Business partners and non-profit organizations are key to our EDGE/EXCEL authentic projects, internships, and mentorships. If you are a current EXCEL/EDGE student OR a prospective student, feel free to join us! The community has done a lot of us this year in terms of giving back and we'd like to do the same. On May 1st from 9:00-12:00, we would like to offer you the opportunity to join Mrs. Greenfield and Mrs. Hyman for an Arbor Day Celebration. We will be planting up to 150 seedling trees, educating the community on tree species, planting specifications and other science-based topics and giving away one seedling per family/individual that comes out to plant. Hours would be able to count towards NHS volunteer hours or Silver Cord Hours, plus volunteering looks really good on resumes and applications. Many of you are realizing the importance of that right now. If you are able to join us even for part of the day, please complete the following form.
