Family Life Education

All third, fourth and fifth grade students who have not been opted out will be taught the Family Life Education (FLE) objectives. Fourth and fifth grade students participate in two lessons and third grade students participate in one lesson. The first lesson for fourth and fifth graders took place in November. The second lesson will take place on March 26, 27 and 28 (based on homeroom class). The first and only lesson for third graders will take place on March 26, 27 and 28 (based on homeroom class). Parents have been provided with the FLE objectives and given the choice for their child to either participate in or opt out of the lessons during the Infosnap registration process in August and also during a previous letter in November. Please contact the school at (703) 368-2032 with any questions.

Future meteorologists

Fourth grade students in Mrs. Burton's class have been investigating and understanding how weather conditions and phenomena occur and how they can be predicted. This included learning about weather measurements and meteorological tools (air pressure – barometer, wind speed – anemometer, rainfall – rain gauge, and temperature – thermometer) and weather phenomena such as fronts, clouds, and storms. They used their new learning to create and edit their own weather reports using WeVideo. Click on the link below to see some of the weather reports that students created!

Liam H., a student in Mrs. Burton's class, describes the learning activity below:

"The weather report helped us learn about the weather in a fun way. And we learned what it’s like to be a meteorologist, writer and a producer. Now, everyday I know how to check the weather and know what to wear to school or if we will go outside for recess."

A Note from The Nurse

Quite a few of our inhalers and Epi-pens have expired, or are due to expire in April. These emergency medications must accompany your child during a field trip. Please check with nursing to see if your child’s medication needs renewal.

Thank You,

Nurse Kathy
