SEL News from the desk of Amy Argubright
SEL News from the desk of Amy Argubright
Hello! Each week, the SEL newsletter focuses on a different SEL competency and includes valuable resources and activities that you can use to promote well-being at home or in the classroom. This week's topic is Self-Management and Goal Setting using SMART goals. Self-Management is defined by the CASEL website as the “ability to manage one's emotions, thoughts, and behaviors effectively in different situations and achieve goals and aspirations." Structured goal setting can support a growth mindset in students by helping teens experience their abilities and leadership. Research around SMART goals has shown that if one takes the time to define a goal, the goal will have a higher rate of success and will result in higher achievement.
