Principal's Message

Thank you to all parents who attended Open House for Tracks 1, 2, and 3. Our staff appreciated the opportunity to spend time with you and share information about curriculum standards and classroom expectations. If you missed Open House, please be sure to check out this link so you have information about our school's fantastic PTA.

I’d like to welcome Track 4 to the 2019-2020 school year! This will be an outstanding year at PUE.

After-School Opportunities

KidzArt allows our students to hone their artistic skills and creativity through lessons on Tuesday afternoons from 4:00-5:00. The link to register your child is https://campscui.active.com/orgs/KidzArtNorthRaleigh

STEM For Kids is excited to be providing after school programs again this year at Pleasant Union! You can find 4 exciting and educational programs on Wednesdays from 4 to 5:30 PM in the Art Room. We'll be learning about where our waste goes while building Minecraft cities, how robots can go into space, competing in our Game Competition, and how robots help with medicine pathways in our body. Much more to learn and have fun with! Register at www.stemforkids.net/register

TGA fosters the skill development of our students in golf and tennis through programs that provide a fun and enriching experience for children while being a convenient and affordable option for parents. The dedicated coaching staff help students develop a passion for golf or tennis while using the sports as a vehicle for delivering curriculums that are loaded with educational concepts including STEM and life skills such as respect, honesty, perseverance and sportsmanship. Register here www.playtga.com/wakecounty. This program is offered on Monday afternoons from 4:00-5:00.

Important Information for Track 4 Families

Transportation

You will receive a handout about PUE best practices regarding transportation from your child’s teacher in his/her opening school packet this week. If your child will be dropped off or picked up via carpool, please note all cars must have a carpool tag. If you do not have one, please come to the main office to get one the first week of school. Additional information regarding arrival, dismissal, and transportation can be found here.

Beginning of Year Forms

Essential forms will come home with your child soon. An Emergency Locator Card should be completed and returned ASAP so we have accurate contact information. On the back of the card, you will be asked to provide emergency contacts. Please write the name of family members or friends that you would like school staff to contact on the back of the card. It is imperative that you also provide their phone number. If your emergency contact must pick your child up, school staff will check their identification prior to releasing your child.

Other forms of importance are:

  • Data Verification Form

  • Military Connected Form

  • Bus Rider Letter

  • Parent Student Handbook review and receipt form

  • Access to Portal-Access Form. Please complete and return this form to Ms. Baginski in the office. Once completed you will have the ability to update demographic information (phone numbers, email) and then be able to view your child's attendance, bus transportation status and bus stop.

Volunteers Matter

Would you like to attend school trips with your child this year? Do you love supporting Pleasant Union by working with small groups and individual learners in the classroom? If so, we need you to register to be a volunteer. Wake County Public School System requires all new volunteers to complete the registration process. If you were approved last year, you must re-register for the 2019-2020 school year. During the first week of school, stations will be set up in the main hallway. The office will also have a station available until 3:15 daily.
